Carrol Lowell Robertson, 74-year-old Gage resident, passed from this life on January 22, 2009 at Newman Memorial Hospital in Shattuck, Oklahoma.
Carrol was born on March 31, 1934 in Kent County, Texas, to Lowell Edward and Syble Dean (Smith) Robertson. He was reared in Kent and Stonewall Counties in Texas, where he attended Swenson and Aspermont Public Schools and graduated from Peacock High School. He then attended Tarleton State University and later Texas Tech University, receiving his Bachelor’s of Science in Animal Husbandry.
After participating in ROTC in college, Carrol served in the U. S. Army 7th Infantry Division in Korea from 1956 to 1958, primarily in the Honor Guard, receiving a Medal of Good Conduct and recognition as a Sharpshooter. Upon completing active duty, Carrol moved to Gage, where he enjoyed farming, raising cattle, and began oilfield trucking.
Carrol married Carolyn McDowell on September 9, 1966, in Happy, Texas. They were blessed with 42 wonderful years together and three children, Karen, Tricia, and Rodney.
Carrol’s life was based on a strong foundation of Christian values, ideals, and work, practiced on a daily basis. He served as Sunday School Director, teacher, and deacon at First Baptist Church, Gage, for over 40 years.
Carrol was preceded in death by his parents, Lowell and Syble Robertson, two sisters, Juanita Ham and Inez Robertson, and nephew David Ray Ham. Survivors include his wife Carolyn Robertson of the home in Gage; daughters Karen Robertson of Amarillo, Texas, and Tricia Robertson of Mustang, Oklahoma; son Rodney Robertson and wife Mary Jo of Woodward, Oklahoma; brothers Doyal Robertson and family of Aspermont, Texas, Beryle Robertson and family of Smyer, Texas, and Jerry Robertson and family of Levelland, Texas; sisters Winona Somervill of New Orleans, Louisiana, Florene Phillips and family of Jayton, Texas, Dorothea Atkerson and family of Corsicana, Texas, and Elouise Kolb and family of Breckenridge, Texas; numerous nieces, nephews, and a host of friends.
