Ada Mahala Wilcox Allen passed from this life on December 24, 2010 at the Seiling Community Hospital in Seiling, Oklahoma. She was 85 years of age.
Ada was born on January 12, 1925 in Sedalia, Missouri to Grover Bailey Wilcox and Ada Mahala Clem. She was reared in Sedalia, Missouri, Sharon, Oklahoma, Camargo, Oklahoma and Vici, Oklahoma. Ada attended Sharon, Camargo and Vici Public Schools, graduating from Vici High School with the class of 1942.
On June 27, 1942 Ada married Dale Allen in Sharon, Oklahoma. The couple was blessed with five children, Billy Dale, Tommy Leroy, Loretta, Dana and Jo. During World War II the couple lived in various cities before making their home in Vici, Oklahoma to raise their family and operate the Vici Hardware. Ada worked hard right beside Dale to make sure they ran a successful business. She also was a wonderful homemaker, caring for her children and their daily needs. She enjoyed sewing, dancing, crocheting, crossword puzzles and family time. Ada was active in the American Legion Auxiliary and the Order of Eastern Star. She received many awards during her life time and was extremely proud of those from high school speech and debates, along with the highest proficiency honor in the Order of Eastern Star. Ada was a member of the United Methodist Church in Vici.
Ada is preceded in death by her parents, Grover and Ada Wilcox, brothers, Jack, Edgar and Lenny Wilcox and sister Mary Sanders.
Those left to cherish her memory are daughters, Loretta Longhofer and husband Joe of Vici, Oklahoma, Dana Patkowski and husband Mick of San Antonio, Texas, Jo Boone and husband Roger of Vici, Oklahoma; grandchildren, Brian Longhofer of Elk City, Oklahoma, Layne Longhofer of Woodward, Oklahoma, Carey Longhofer of Vici, Oklahoma, Jeff Patkowski of San Antonio, Texas, Ashley Patkowski of San Antonio, Texas, Michael Boone of Vici, Oklahoma and Kelsey Boone of Weatherford, Oklahoma; 12 great-grandchildren; several nieces, nephews, other family and a host of friends.
