Alan Ray Ellis, a beloved resident of Taloga, Oklahoma, passed from this life on July 6, 2023, at the age of 66. He was born on June 4, 1957, in Modesto, California, to Ervin Hugh and Mary Jane (Davis) Ellis. Alan spent his early years in California and Arizona before moving to Oklahoma at the age of two and a half. He attended grade school at Hobart and Sentinel Public Schools, started high school at Thomas and later graduated from Haleyville Public School in 1975.
On June 10, 1977, Alan married, Beth Nevels, at the Taloga Christian Church and remained married for 24 years. They were blessed with two sons, Lee Bronson and Dusty Alan. Together, they raised their family in Putnam, Oklahoma.
Alan actively participated in the FFA (Future Farmers of America) and showcased his talents by exhibiting sheep and Duroc pigs and milking cows for his father. Additionally, he was a member of the high school football team, displaying his dedication to his school and community.
Alan had a diverse professional career. He initially worked in the oil field, specializing in dozer work. Later, he ventured into entrepreneurship and owned and operated several businesses before establishing "Alan Ellis Construction," in 1980 where he focused on carpentry and contractor work. He had a passion for perfection and prided himself on quality, honesty, and integrity.
In his leisure time, Alan had several hobbies that brought him joy. He had a passion for fishing, shooting, antiques, woodworking, and spending time at the lake. One of Alan's passions included shopping for antique signs. He would display them in various places at his home. His most cherished pastime was spending time with his grandkids. You could find him at school activities, ballgames, fishing and swimming at the lake with his grandkids.
Alan was baptized at the age of 8 at the Sentinel Baptist Church and was a member while they lived in Sentinel.
Alan Ray Ellis was preceded in death by his father, Ervin Hugh Ellis, his wife, Beth Ellis, and his nephew, Brent Ellis. He is survived by his loving mother, Mary Jane Ellis, of Weatherford, Oklahoma; his two sons, Bronson Ellis and his wife Robin of Taloga, Oklahoma, and Dusty Ellis and his wife Alicia of Seiling, Oklahoma; his cherished grandchildren, Jase and Ali Ellis of Taloga, Oklahoma, and Falynn, Korbyn, and Emery Ellis of Seiling, Oklahoma. He is also survived by his three brothers, Jim Ellis of Vancouver, Washington, Ron Ellis of Crowley, Texas, and Eldon Ellis of Kingston, Oklahoma; his special cousin, Sally Ellis; as well as aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, extended family members, and a multitude of friends.
