Alveta Fern (Davis) Nance, 84, a cherished resident of Vici, OK, passed away on November 6, 2023, in her hometown. She was born on July 17, 1939, east of Vici, OK, to the late Aubrey and Ressie (Moss) Davis. Alveta spent her formative years in Vici, attending Vici Public Schools, and graduating with the Class of 1957.

On May 31, 1957, Alveta married the love of her life, Clarence Martin Nance, in Crosbyton, TX, and embraced her stepson Richard Martin as her own. Their journey led them to various places before eventually making Vici their permanent home. The couple was blessed with seven children: LaRessa Fern, Aubrey Lynn, Clarence Lyman, Timothy Lowell, Sylvia Sue, Andy Irvine, and Krystal Ann.

Alveta dedicated herself to caring for others, working as a certified medication aide and night charge nurse at the Vici Nursing Home for numerous years, alongside managing her home responsibilities. She had a green thumb and found joy in gardening nurturing flowers and could always grow a garden anywhere. She also enjoyed feeding the birds and spent many hours watching them daily. Her doves and red birds continued to visit long after she had moved. Above all, she found great delight in cooking for her family and doting on her grandchildren, for whom she had an immeasurable love. She always made sure the sandbox in her front yard was full of sand and looked forward to her grandchildren playing in it. She was the best cook and some of the family favorites include cinnamon rolls, jelly rolls, bierocks and fried chicken.

Alveta decided to take Bud turkey hunting one morning, but she had to take the rest of the kids with them. Alveta and Bud had gotten out of the vehicle and left the others behind- Andy, Tim, Lyman, and Sue- along with a loaded gun. Andy decided to clamber over the seat, and he managed to bump into the gun. The gun went off and blew a nice big hole in the floor of the car.

Her unwavering faith led her to be baptized in 1969 at the Vici General Assembly & Church of the Firstborn, where she remained a devoted member until her health no longer permitted her attendance.

In her later years she went to live at the Vici Nursing Home. While there, the sweet and kind grandma obtained the title of "Queen of the Thuggiest of the Thugs," from her favorite caregivers. She was notorious for whoopin' them more than their mamas- all in love of course.

Alveta was preceded in death by her parents, Aubrey Davis and Ressie Davis Cole, her beloved husband Clarence Nance, her son Aubrey Lynn Nance, and brothers Gene Davis, Lowell Davis, Gale Davis, and Bob Davis. She was also preceded in death by her grandson Kasey Kennedy, daughter-in-law Gina Kay Nance, and sisters-in-laws Billie Davis, Alma Jean Davis, Nadyne Davis, Winnie Davis and brother-in-law Tom Nance.

Left to cherish her memory are her children LaRessa Hutchens and husband Buddy of Vici, OK, Lyman Nance and wife Peggy of Foss, OK, Tim Nance and wife Jan of Vici, OK, Sue Kennedy and husband Scott of Vici, OK, Andy Nance and wife Kim of Vici, OK, Krystal Nance of Edmond, OK, and stepson Richard Nance and wife Mary Ann of Berlin, Germany. Additionally, she leaves behind twenty-nine grandchildren and forty-three great-grandchildren, as well as nieces, nephews, and a host of other family members and friends.

May her loving spirit and cherished memories continue to live on in the hearts of all those who knew and loved her.
