Obituary

Carrie Ann Johnson, fondly known as "Annie," was born on March 1, 1955, in Shattuck, Oklahoma, to parents James Hugh Meininger and Peggy Ann Wentz (Meininger, Johnson). She spent her early years in Harmon, Oklahoma, and throughout Ellis County, growing up with a deep appreciation for the western lifestyle. Annie attended school in Arnett, Oklahoma, completing grade school and some of her high school years there before graduating in Shattuck.

Annie had a passion for barrel racing, rodeos, and country music, and she was well-known for her spirited and adventurous nature. She worked as a manager at Arnett Grain, a role she took great pride in and through which she built lasting connections within her community. Over the years, she made her home in several places within the county: Arnett, Shattuck, and Higgins until 1998, Harmon until 2008, and finally Gage, where she lived until her passing on October 29, 2024.

Annie leaves behind a legacy of resilience, love, and warmth. She is survived by her beloved son, Christopher Johnson, and his wife, Sofia, of Tulsa, Oklahoma. Her family includes her sister, Tricia Johnson of Woodward, Oklahoma, and brother, Harold Johnson of Gage, Oklahoma, along with her nephews, Scott Meininger and wife Stacy of Higgins, Texas, and Joseph Meininger of Arnett, Oklahoma, Shane Meininger of Kansas City, and her niece, Lisa Meininger of Fargo, Oklahoma.

Annie was preceded in death by her parents, Peggy Ann Wentz (Meininger, Johnson) and James Meininger, her stepfather, Dean Johnson, her brothers, Jack, Jimmy and his wife Ida, and John (Wolf) Meininger, and her nephew, Jacob Meininger.

Annie's adventurous spirit, love for family, and zest for life will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.

Chris and Sofia would like to express their heartfelt gratitude to Rex and Linda Schroeder and their wonderful family for embracing Mom as one of their own. Your care, kindness, and countless acts of support, especially during this challenging time, have been beyond measure. We are deeply thankful for the friendship, love, and support you have shown Mom throughout the years. In our time of mourning, you've embraced us as part of your family. Thank you for being there when we needed you most.

We would also like to extend our heartfelt thanks to Dan and Betty Peaslee for their support in tending to Mom's property, from gardening to maintenance, ensuring it was well cared for both before and after her passing. Your kindness allowed her to stay connected to her passion for gardening, even when it became challenging for her to do so.
