Arlene Hunter

Dec 20, 1931 — Sep 6, 2026

Arlene Ethel Jones Hunter was born on December 20, 1931 to Carl Douglas and Ethel Muno Jones at the family home near Webb, OK.

She attended grade school at Raymond, the local one room schoolhouse, and later graduated from Taloga High School.

Following graduation, she worked as a nurses’ aid at Moorland Hospital.

On April 8, 1951, she married her high-school sweetheart, Gail Hunter.

Together they had seven children: Johnny Lynn, Arlinda Gayle, Jackie Don, Gordon Douglas “Buddy,” Robin Lynnette, Carole Jan, and Susan Michelle.

In addition, they cared for eleven foster children over the years before Gail became ill.

Arlene was a homemaker and hard-working farm wife, Gail’s helpmate in every sense of the word.

Following his death in 1979, she worked as a home caregiver, and later was delighted to serve as babysitter for her grandchildren and others.

Arlene accepted Christ as her savior at age 9, and influenced every life she touched from then on.

She was a member of Camp Creek Nazarene Church, making sure that her children began attending as newborns. Not only did she take them to Church, she lived a dedicated Christian life before them in all situations, even when life was difficult.

Later she moved to Vici, where she attended Vici Nazarene Church. She was always willing to help wherever she could, working with children and later teaching Sunday School to the “old folks” at Vici Nursing Home.

Arlene was preceded in death by her parents, Carl and Ethel Jones; husband Gail Hunter; one son, Gordon Douglas “Buddy” Hunter; grandson, Jared Ross Lynes; and brother, Eugene Jones.

She is survived by her sister, Carol Lin of Carmel, CA; children Johnny Hunter (Marie) of the Bloomfield area; Arlinda Lynes (Larry) of rural Taloga; Jackie Hunter (Mercy) of Sunnyvale, CA; Robin Smithey (Bill) of Elk City, OK; Jan Trimble (David) of Vici, OK; and Susan Badley (Rick) of Hermitage, TN; fourteen grandchildren; fifteen great-grandchildren; and one great-grandson; nieces, nephews, and many other family members and friends.
