Obituary

Barbara Francis (Henry) Pratt was born September 6, 1924 at Shattuck, Oklahoma to John and Myrtle (Shreve) Henry. She passed from this life on June 3, 2007 at Woodward, Oklahoma. The family lived in Arnett, OK and Barbara attended Arnett Public Schools graduating with the class of 1942.

On June 26, 1948 Barbara married Edgar Arnold Pratt. Two daughters blessed this union; Euleta and Sharon. The family lived in Arnett for thirty-four years, and for the past twenty-four years Barbara and Arnold have lived near Boiling Springs State Park only recently moving into Woodward.

Barbara worked several different places during her career performing clerical and accounting work; The Army Corps of Engineering, During World War II she was employed by the Army Air Corps which is currently, Tinker Air Force Base, in the Ellis County Court Clerk office, the Ellis County Abstract Office, Ellis County ACCS office, for Marshall Word, Woodrow Walton Insurance Agency, Wiedner Insurance, and Arnett Tag Agency. In addition to this she worked along side her husband Arnold at Pratt Farm Machinery and Equipment.

Barbara enjoyed spending her leisure time sewing, painting and researching family genealogy. She was an active member of the Campers on Mission program and the Mission Service Corps. She was instrumental in launching the Northwest Literacy Council and was a recipient of the Lieutenant Governor's "Reach for the Stars" literacy recognition award.

Barbara was baptized at the age of eight and was an active member of both the First Baptist Church of Arnett and the First Baptist Church of Woodward. She served as a Sunday school teacher and a vacation Bible school teacher.

Barbara was preceded in death by her parents, John and Myrtle Henry and by brother, J.J. Henry. Those surviving to cherish her memory are her husband Arnold of the home in Woodward; her daughters, Euleta Persall and husband Pete of Woodward, OK and Sharon Afshari and husband Sya of Broken Arrow, OK; by grandsons, Matthew Afshari and Jake Persall; by granddaughter, Lori White and husband Benji; by other family and a host of friends.
