Bennie Wesley Waller, age 88, of Checotah, Oklahoma passed from this earth on February 10, 2014. Bennie, "Pastor", was born to Earl Otis Waller and Rose Lee (Key) Waller on July 26, 1925, in Stroud, Oklahoma. Soon after Bennie's birth his family resided in Chandler, Oklahoma. Bennie attended Kindergarten through High School at Chandler Public Schools. Bennie was seventeen and joined the United States Navy. He proudly served his country from 1942 through 1946 in the South Pacific and was honorably discharged. Bennie returned home and obtained his G.E.D. He accepted the Lord as his Savior and was baptized as a young adult in Pampa, Texas. Bennie was joined in marriage to Jacquelin Faye Wilson on the 4th day of May, 1961, in Clinton, Oklahoma. The couple lived in Clinton, then Midwest City, Oklahoma, before settling in Eastern Oklahoma. In Oktaha, they owned and operated Checotah Insurance Agency and Jackie's Jewelry Store. With Bennie's calling to the Ministry, he began to fill the Pulpit in the small Oktaha Church. Jackie went back to school to become an educator and Bennie was persuaded to take a full time Pastor's position. Bennie's first Church was the Oktaha United Methodist, then Honor Heights United Methodist in Muskogee, Oklahoma. The Lord took him next to Western Oklahoma where he was the Pastor at the First United Methodist Church, in Vici, Oklahoma, and the Lenora United Methodist Church in Lenora, Oklahoma. While in Western Oklahoma, Bennie helped both Churches build new sanctuaries. In 2007, Bennie returned to Eastern Oklahoma, pastoring the Bokoshe United Methodist Church. He was currently preaching the Word, helping others and holding to his Pastoral duties. He enjoyed playing golf, but leading young and old to the Lord and preaching was his true love. Bennie was preceded in death by his parents, Earl and Rose Waller, brother JC Waller and sister Lois Mitchell. He is survived by his wife, Jackie Waller of 52 years; children Brenda Pounches and husband Gary of Kearney, Nebraska, Michael Grace and wife Carla Jo of Oktaha, Oklahoma, Ronnie Grace and wife Paula Ann of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; sister Lorene Summers of Seal Beach, California; 5 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren, cousin Louise Ellison, nieces, nephews, other family and a host of friends.
