Bertha Lou (McGuire) Hill, an 85 year old resident of Woodward, OK was called to her Heavenly home on November 7, 2022 in Tulsa, OK.  She was the daughter of Bert and Louise (Colburn) McGuire.  Bertha Lou was born in Mutual, OK on March 4, 1937.  Bertha began her school years in Kansas attending elementary school in Anthony and jr high school in Hutchinson.  Her family moved to Arkansas where Bertha graduated from high school a year early at Ash Flat High School.  During her school years, Bertha gave her heart to the Lord. She returned to Hutchinson, KS to manage Help Your Self Laundry, the family laundromat business on the corner of 4 ^th and Ford. Bertha soon met a handsome plumber, Melvin Eugene Hill, and married the love of her life on October 6, 1956 after dating for only 3 months.  Their home was blessed with three children, Michael Eugene, Bernice Lane and Trenda Marie.  For nearly forty years they resided in twenty-eight different states for Melvin's pipeline employment as a journeyman pipe welder.  In 1973 they made their home base in Sharon, OK and continued to travel with Melvin's work until their retirement in 2004.  Bertha was a homemaker and taking care of her family was a priority.  She always cooked Melvin a hot breakfast before he left for work and she enjoyed cooking meals for her family especially on Sundays.  Sewing was a special interest where Bertha excelled and she could make anything from blankets and costumes to wedding dresses and suits for her kids, grandkids and others.  She loved playing her rules of Mexican train dominoes and was known to change her rules during the game if she wasn't winning.  Apple fritters and Chai tea for breakfast and a Coca~Cola and Judge Judy was part of her daily routine.  Bertha made many wonderful memories spending time in Arkansas and Branson with her siblings.   She was a member of the Woodward First Assembly of God Church for many years, taught adult Sunday School classes, helped in the nursery and was always willing to drive anyone to Church.  She was very faithful to mission giving and volunteered with the Missionettes girls group. Bertha also enjoyed helping the community by delivering Meals on Wheels for several years.

Bertha was a devoted loving wife, mother, and granny whose caring ways will be greatly missed.

She is preceded in death by her beloved husband of 50 plus years, Melvin Hill, her parents, Bert and Louise McGuire, a brother Victor McGuire, two sisters Margaret Lingenfelter and Marjorie Hughes, two brothers-in-law Eugene Anston and Jackie Wyatt and other loved ones.

Her memory will be cherished by her children, Michael Hill and his wife Jana of Tuttle, OK, Bernice Davis and her husband Marvin of Lubbock, TX and Trenda Rodgers and her husband Wes of Baytown, TX, her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, Kyle and Cassie Hill and their children Karsen and Kylen, Melissa and Tobe Bettis and their children Kimbri and Gavin, Jeremy and Abby Phillips and their children Grant, Georgia and Ethan, Mitchell and Jamie Davis and their children Mason, Duke and Maverick, Kristyn and Chad Sutton and their children Katelyn, Kaleb and William, Kessley and William Mayrath, Lindsey and Bryan Oxford and Kaitlyn and Jay Townsley, her sisters Naomi Wyatt and Hazel Anston, brothers, Everett McGuire and his wife Fran and Walter McGuire all of Arkansas, sister-in-law Marilyn McGuire several nieces and nephews, other relatives and special friends.
