Betty Jeanne Pierson's Obituary

Betty Jeanne Cutler Pierson was born October 6, 1923 in Woodward, OK to Charles Neal and Lenora Wadlough Cutler. She passed away peacefully with family by her side on Wednesday, February 22, 2012 in Oklahoma City, OK. Graduating from Woodward High School in 1941, she
worked in the local business community until her marriage to Sherman Clarence Pierson, Jr. of Vici, OK in 1946.

The Pierson's lived in Norman, OK before returning to Northwestern Oklahoma where they made their home in Vici for more than fifty years. Betty was a full time homemaker, loving wife and devoted mother. In later years, the Pierson's lived in Woodward, OK, moving to Oklahoma City in 2011.

Betty was an avid reader, enjoyed playing bridge, travelling, watching sporting events, following all University of Oklahoma football and basketball games and spending time with her three grandchildren and six great grandchildren. She was active in Eastern Star and is a past Worthy Matron of the Vici Chapter. Betty was a member of the First United Methodist Church, Woodward, OK.

Survivors include her husband of sixty six years, Sherman Pierson, sons: Gregory Pierson and wife Judy of Greeley, CO, Richard Pierson and wife Kathy of Oklahoma City, OK; grandchildren: Jennifer Abbink, Colorado Springs, CO, Laura Yett, Fort Collins, CO and Adam Pierson, Yukon, OK; great grandchildren: Andrew and Ashley Abbink, Colter, Rachel and Bridger Yett, and Daxton Pierson.

Betty was preceded in death by her parents Charles and Lenora Cutler, brother Dean Cutler and sisters Elizabeth Cutler and Thelma Woodall.

Graveside services will be conducted by Shaw Funeral Home of Vici at 2:30 p.m., Monday, February 27, 2012, Elmwood Cemetery, Woodward, Oklahoma. A Celebration of Life Memorial service will be held at 3:00 p.m., Tuesday, February 28, 2012 in the Chapel of Chapel Hill United Methodist Church, Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.
