Obituary

Billie Ruth (McCleery) File, beloved mother, grandmother, sister and aunt completed her earthly journey on November 13, 2022 in Shattuck, OK. at the age of 91 years.  She was born near Vici, OK. on August 7, 1931 and was the first of six children born to Roy 'Babe' McCleery and Vilma (Peard) McCleery.  Her early years were spent on the family farm and in 1936 the family moved to Stockton, CA. where Billie began her school years.  In 1945 they returned to Oklahoma making their home near Harmon, OK. and she completed her formal education in the Vici Public School system.  She was the valedictorian of the graduating class of 1949 and following graduation she worked at the Vici Farmers Coop.  On January 13, 1951 at the home of Raymond and Dorothy File, Billie was united in marriage to Kenneth Lee File. Their marriage was blessed with three sons, John Leroy, Gregory Kent and Clay Dean. The newlyweds first home was established south of Fargo, OK.in the upstairs of the Bert Larason home.  In 1961they built a new home and the Fargo community remained their home the remainder of their lives.

Billie was a homemaker and a dedicated farm wife.  She was a great cook with fried chicken, cherry pie and cinnamon rolls being family favorites and often requested.  She enjoyed sewing, maintaining her yard and flowers and spending time with her grandkids.  She always cheered for the underdog in any situation.  She was baptized as a teenager in the Church of the Nazarene and served for many years as the church secretary and a Sunday school teacher in the Fargo United Methodist church.  She also attended the Free Will Baptist Church in Woodward, OK.

Billie was a woman of strong character and faith.  Those qualities and her devotion to her family will forever be remembered and cherished.

She is preceded in death by her husband of nearly 52 years, Kenneth File, two of her sons, John Leroy File and Gregory Kent File and a grandson Bryan File.  Her parents Roy 'Babe' and Vilma McCleery, her brothers LeeRoy and Ron McCleery, sister Carolyn Hartzell and other loved ones.

Billie is survived by her son Clay File and wife Christie of Fargo, OK., grandchildren; Cole and Chelsea File, Cody File, Ken File and Susan Appel, Cami and Austin Herod, and Teeka Camarillo and Cameron; great grandchildren; Brennan File, Kensey File, Blake Appel, Caybree Camarillo, Braylon File, Kayleigh File, Tayber Camarillo and Kensington Herod.  Two sisters, Jackie Jones of Kiowa, KS. and Yvonne Crenshaw and husband Dave of Tuttle, OK., a special family friend that Billie considered another son James McCurdy, several nieces and nephews, other family members and numerous friends.
