IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Billie
Moran
February 5, 1937 – July 18, 2022
Billie Corrine Jones was born at home in Camargo, OK, on February 5, 1937 to Mason Leo (Pete) Jones and Syble Pearl Petree Jones. She was the 2 nd child out of 6 children. Billie passed away on July 18, 2022 in Vici, OK. She was 85 years old.
At the time of Billie's birth, the family was living in Camargo a block west of the old Jones Hotel. They later moved east of Camargo for a short time, but she mostly remembers growing up on the old Henry Jones home place northwest of Camargo. Her fondest memories of childhood were of exploring the pasture, going to the creek, and gathering cows while riding Dynamite with the family dog Ring in attendance. Billie attended Camargo School through elementary to high school. While attending school, she was in 4-H and played basketball. She enjoyed going to school and loved to read and was an ardent reader throughout her life. Her reading often got her into trouble with her mother ( her mother frequently saying, "Get your nose out of that book and pay attention to me!") As a child Billie attended the First Christian Church in Camargo where she was baptized at age thirteen.
Billie was a sophomore in high school when she met Ernest Johnson at a VFW dance at Arnett. They immediately fell in love, and she and Ernest married on October 9, 1952, at Harmon, OK. Billie and Ernest had three children, Mark Stephen, Angela Pearl, and Ernest Clifford Jr. Billie and Ernest moved frequently to accommodate work, and after 23 moves, they eventually moved to Vici, OK, in 1966, where Billie lived the rest of her life. Billie and Ernest later divorced but remained on amicable terms.
After a few years, Billie began dating Cleo Moran. Billie had known Cleo her entire life since he was also from Camargo. They married on February 14, 1978, in Seiling, OK. Billie and Cleo made their home in Vici, OK, and remained married for 21 years when Cleo passed away. They loved to vacation in Colorado, and loved to travel with her sister Leona and husband Norman, and with lifelong friends, Bob and Dot South.
Billie's main passion in life was taking care of her family. She was a devoted, faithful wife, a fiercely protective mother and grandma, great-grandma and a loving daughter, sister, and aunt. She was also a faithful Christian and she taught her children the importance of a relationship with the Lord. She was a member of the Vici United Methodist Church for 56 years, was a member of the United Methodist Women, held many church offices, and helped with a variety of church activities. Billie also held a variety of jobs throughout her lifetime. She worked as a nurse's aide, a ward clerk, bookkeeper and receptionist. She also had many interests which included reading, traveling, gardening, dancing, music of all kinds, movie classics, people, architecture, stained glass, and native rock and wood.
Another one of Billie's passions was education. Although she didn't graduate from high school, she later earned her GED and took colleges courses at Frank Phillips Junior College and at Northwestern Oklahoma State University. She vehemently expressed the importance of education to her children. She never said "if you go to college; she always said when you go to college". In all aspects of her life, she worked hard, gave her best, and always had a strong moral compass.
Billie was preceded in death by her husband, Cleo Moran; her parents, Pete and Syble Jones; her sister, Leona Allen and brothers-in-law, Norman Allen, Ned Kygar, Bill Moran, Frank Dover and Bert Bratt and sisters-in-law Pauline Moran, Mildred Moran, Joanna Dover and Wana Bratt.
She is survived by her children, Stephen Johnson and wife Denita, Angela White and husband Larry, Cliff Johnson and wife Lisa, five grandchildren, Jason White and wife Cinnamon, Courtney Menefee and husband Rusty, Amanda Brittain and husband Kenny, Reed Johnson and Brady Johnson and wife Hannah, great grandchildren Trinity, Paisley and Embassy White, Ross and Rowdy Menefee and Abigail and Isaac Brittain, sister Darlene Kygar, brothers Keith Jones and wife Debbie, Harold Jones and wife Louise and Bob Jones and wife Cathy, special sister Dorothy South and special friend Ana Altamirano, many relatives and a host of friends.
