Billy Edgar Addington passed away on February 17, 2026, at his home in Leedey, Oklahoma, at the age of 76. He was born on March 3, 1949, in Clinton to Edgar and Ruth Addington.
Billy grew up in Cordell, where he attended grade school, and later moved to Leedey, graduating with the Class of 1968. During his high school years, he was a proud member of the Senior State Runner-Up team. Known to many of his friends as “Wild Bill,” he was admired for his spirited personality and love of life. Following graduation, he attended one year at Oklahoma Panhandle State University.
On April 9, 1971, Billy married the love of his life, Jana Sue Peterson, in Leedey. To this union, four children were born: daughters Wendy and Tammi, and sons Reggie and Rocky. Billy and Jana made their home in Moorewood, Oklahoma from 1971 to 1973, in Moore, Oklahoma from 1973 to 1975, and returned to Leedey in 1975, where Billy remained for the rest of his life.
Billy worked as a general operator for Dewey County and was also a dedicated farmer. He took great pride in his work and in caring for the land. In his spare time, he enjoyed fishing, hunting, pitching horseshoes, and especially spending time with his grandchildren and attending their sporting events. Farming was not only his livelihood but also one of his greatest passions. Another special joy in his life was participating in car shows with his beloved ’69 GTO Judge, which he proudly showcased whenever he had the chance.
He was a faithful member of the Leedey First Baptist Church.
Billy was preceded in death by his parents, Edgar and Ruth Addington; his daughter, Tammi Addington; and his sister, Loreta James.
He is survived by his loving wife, Jana Addington of the home; daughter, Wendy Hernandez and husband Isaac and their children, Bella and Addie, of Yukon; son, Reggie Addington and his children, Minor and Emerson, of Oklahoma City; son, Rocky Addington and wife Torie and their children, Aspyn, Ace, Violet, and Drake, of Morrison; daughter-in-law, Linsi Addington; brother, Jackie Addington and wife Dawnita of Elk City; along with several nieces and nephews, and a host of other relatives and dear friends.
A funeral service will be held Friday, February 20, at 3:00 PM at the Leedey First Baptist Church, conducted by Shaw Funeral Home, with burial to follow at New Hermon Cemetery.
