Obituary

Bonnie , also known as "Bobbie" , was born June 13, 1919 in Shattuck, Oklahoma. She passed quietly away at the Shattuck Hospital on February 16, 2010.
She was the daughter of Carric Jefferson Bouse and Bessie Adaline Harris. As a Methodist, she was a member and Sunday school teacher of the Teirce Chapel and Shattuck Methodist church, and later attended the Arnett Methodist Church. She attended Shattuck Public School until her marriage.

Bonnie and Oren Mandel Brown were married on May 22, 1937, at the Brown Homestead southwest of Arnett. They were blessed to have five children. Bonnie and Oren began their married life in the oil fields of Tyler, Texas. They moved to a ranch in Kopperl, Texas, and returned to Ellis County in 1940 to begin their dairy farm and ranching operations. She became a Mary Kay Consultant in 1982. Along with her many interests, she enjoyed helping Oren raise registered "Hollywood Lassie" Collie dogs.

She was an officer and member of the Odd Fellow and Rebecca Lodges in Shattuck and Arnett, Buffalo Canton and Alva Encampment. Bonnie was an active member of several community organizations in which she held various offices including that of president. She was a member of the La Componia Home Demonstration Club, Arnett Library Club( later known as the Arnett Social Club), and Ellis County Historical Society.

Bonnie had several interests. She loved art, music, dancing, traveling, reading, and working in her yard and rose garden. She began art lessons in 1952 Beum School House with the Dord Fitz. She had the opportunity to travel to places such as New York, Los Angles , San Francisco, Phoenix, and Chicago and meet world-renowned artists. She taught art classes at the Little Red School House, Shattuck Senior Center and Shattuck Nursing Home. She was a member of the Peanut Squares and Woodward Twirlers Square Dance Clubs.

Music was a big part of Bonnie's life. She provided the opportunity for each of her children to learn music skills. She played the violin as a child and played 2nd fiddle in the Shattuck School orchestra while Oren played 1st fiddle. Bonnie and Oren were frequent visitors to fiddle conventions in Branson, Elk City and Mangum. While Oren played the fiddle , Bonnie played the spoons. They played at numerous nursing homes each month. Bonnie had a soft soprano voice and often sang solos in church, duets with Oren, and was a member of several quartet groups. As a member of the Golden Girls Band she played the snare drum and tambourine.

Bonnie was a homemaker who was known to be kind and generous. She loved and was loved by her family. She was an excellent role model whose influence reached well beyond her family. She loved the challenge of learning and passed this on to her children. She was an excellent teacher and speaker.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Oren, her parents, two sisters: Iris Valentine and Irene and two brothers: Orville and Leo Albert, three grandchildren and one step-granddaughter. She is survived by her five children: Mandel, Bobbie Joe and wife Donna, Annabelle Buller and husband Jerry, Linda Fox and husband Franklin, all of Arnett and Reta Mitchell and husband H.C. (Bunny) of Olustee, Oklahoma. There are eight grandchildren: Debbie Rosson and husband Rusty, Sheila Born and husband Dave, James Brown, Stephanie McDonald, Jefferson Buller and wife Michelle, Diana Gilchrist and husband Shannon, Derrick Mitchell and wife Ashley, Tiffany Almanza and husband Jonathan, as well as five close step-grandchildren: Billy Wayne Maggard, Gene Karn Lisa, Tracy Karn, Ricky Morressette, Jay Boyd and wife Callie. Bonnie had seven great-grandchildren: Rachel Dunlap and husband J.D., Karissa and Jason Gilchrist, Braden and Jacie Buller, and Jonathan and Jayden Almanza, Tyler and Tyson Thomas, and two great-great grandchildren: Jeremiah and Jayden Dunlap. Her only niece is Peggy Allen and husband Robert with children Tad and Morgan. Bonnie had many extended special friends, especially: John Knight of WVA, and Doug Martin of KS. She leaves a host of relatives and friends nation wide.

A Celebration of Life Memorial Service will be scheduled at a later time at the Shattuck Methodist Church in Shattuck, Oklahoma
