Brenten James Longhofer, a cherished resident of Shattuck, aged 37, passed away on February 5, 2024, in Edmond, OK. Born on November 4, 1986, in Shattuck to Larry Lee and the late Marlene Joann (Bowles) Longhofer, Brenten's life was a testament to love, dedication, and achievement.
Brenten spent his formative years in Shattuck, attending Shattuck Public School for all twelve years, graduating with the Class of 2006 as Senior Class President. He played quarterback and defensive back for the Shattuck Indian football team. They were State Champions in 2003, 2004 and 2005. Brenten was quarterback for the first three years of the 93-game winning streak and his team won the first 42 games of the streak. He received many honors and awards during his high school football career: Oklahoma Football Coaches Association All State 2005, Eight Man All State 2005 and 2005 Oklahoma Eight Man Football Coaches Association Class C Offensive Player of the Year. Brenten was not only an athlete with three football State Championships, he also excelled in basketball and was a 270 Conference All-Star in the 2004-2005 season. His coaches said of him, "He was one of the greatest competitors we ever coached."
One of Brenten's lifelong hobbies was cooking. In 2007, he and his two brothers opened Young Guns Saloon and Steakhouse where Brenten ran the restaurant that became a local favorite. Music resonated deeply with him, and he shared his passion with those at Young Guns by providing live entertainment playing the guitar and singing with his friends.
On July 27, 2014, he married the love of his life and high school sweetheart, Kelsey Jane Albright, at the Huenergardt Residence in Shattuck. Their union was blessed with three beautiful daughters – Milah, Amara, and Elliah. Recently, the family moved to Edmond, OK.
Brenten was the ultimate girl dad, following his girls to their cheer competitions and ball games. He was a volunteer for their summer youth sports programs. Brenten was a devoted family man. His love for his girls and family was evident in the precious moments spent together.
He was a member of the First Methodist Church in Shattuck, but he and his family were currently attending the Church of the Servant in Edmond, OK.
Brenten is preceded in death by his mother, Marlene Joann (Bowles) Longhofer. Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Kelsey Longhofer and daughters Milah, Amara, and Elliah Longhofer of Edmond, OK; father Larry Longhofer of Shattuck, OK; brother Brandon Longhofer of Oklahoma City, OK; brother Ryan and wife Kendra, and children Ella, Lily, Ryan, Olivia, and Bode of Shattuck, OK; sister LaNae Lynn and husband Dr. Rick Traczyk and daughter, Kaelan Ava of Oklahoma City, OK; mother-in-law Janet Winn and husband Jerry of Shattuck, OK, father-in-law, Cary Albright and wife Renee of Abilene, TX, brother-in-law Clay Albright and wife Megan, and sons Carstin and Cash of Edmond, OK. And many aunts, uncles, cousins, and close friends.
May Brenten's spirit live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.
