Brian Duke Akins was born July 16, 1980 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma to Joe and Diane (Dettweiler) Akins. He passed from this life September 6, 2010 as the result of an automobile accident. He was 30 years of age.

Brian grew up in Leadhill, Arkansas and Follett, Texas where he attended high school and graduated with the Class of 1999.

Brian worked as a semi-truck driver for W H B Cattle Company and made his home in Arnett, Oklahoma. He enjoyed hunting and fishing, but his greatest enjoyment came from spoiling his nieces.

Brian was preceded in death by his brother, Joshua Cherry, grandmother, Lou Dettweiler, grandmother, Eunice Dettweiler, grandfather, Wilbur Milt Akins and uncles, Clarence Dettweiler, Don McGee, Jimmy Akins and William Akins. He is survived by his parents, Joe and Diane Akins of Arnett, OK; brother, Lee Akins and wife Niki of Shattuck, OK; nieces, Morgan and Chastity Akins of Shattuck, OK; grandfather, Clarence Dettweiler of Oklahoma City, OK, grandmother, Elsie Akins of Yellville, AR; numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and many dear friends.
