Obituary

Carl D. Chesmore was born, July 17th, 1925 to William Walter, and Sylvia Rose Chesmore, at the farm, on the Payne and Lincoln county line, north of Agra, Oklahoma. He was the youngest of 11 children.
At the age of six Carl started school at Soonerville School, but during that first year he got burned by boiling laundry water, and spent the rest of that year at home. He started back to school the next year, and graduated from Soonerville 8th grade. Carl then went to Agra High School for three years before going into the service, where he received his high school diploma.
From November 1943 to January 1946, Carl, took basic training for the Sixteenth Infantry Training Battalion at Camp Wheeler, Georgia. On December 12, 1943 he was sent to Germany as an Infantry Rifleman. July 21, 1944 he entered the battle of Normandy and was reported missing in action on July 23, 1944. In August, they found him in a German hospital being held as a prisoner of war. He was transferred to the 119th General Hospital APO 312 and received the medical care he needed. He was put back to light duty service in December. Carl finished out his service with the Battery A. 433rd. Antiaircraft Artillery Battalion as a Clerk-Typist. He was honorably discharged on January 1, 1946. As a result of his meritorious service, Carl was awarded, the Purple Heart, World War II Victory Ribbon, Good Conduct Medal, three Bronze Service Stars and EAME Theater Ribbon.
On March 9, 1946 Carl, meet Emilie Porter at a cousins wedding, and after a short courtship they were married on October 24, 1946, at the Courthouse in Chandler, OK. For three years they lived in a little house close to his parent's farm. They then purchased the farm, across from Cushing City Lake, where they raised their children, and lived the rest of Emilie's life and most of Carl's.
Carl and Emilie had four children; Karlene, born in 1949, Jerry Don in 1952, Harvey in 1954, and Cecil in 1956. Jerry Don, and Cecil, did not live.
Carl was baptized into the General Assembly and Church of the Firstborn, By Bro. Doyle Combs, in July of 1975.
Carl loved the outdoors. Hunting, fishing and camping was the family's activities. Carl and Emilie worked and played side by side all through their married life. They worked for the Sunnyside and Ripley school systems as Cook and Janitor, before going to OSU to work together.
Carl and Emilie's celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary, in 1996. Emilie passed from this life on March, 25th, 2000.
On, October 11th, 2000, Carl married Idalee Greenfield. They continued to live on Carl's farm until his illness started getting worse. For a short time they lived in her home in Cushing, before Carl went to live with Harvey and Denise for the last 20 months of his life.
Carl passed from this life, on July, 11, 2011, at the age of 85, in the home of Harvey and Denise Chesmore, at Vici, Ok.
He is survived by he wife, Idalee Chesmore, of Cushing, OK, daughter, Karlene Corcoran and husband Steve of Bethany, OK, son, Harvey Chesmore and wife Denise, of Vici, OK, granddaughter's, Kara Chesmore Pence and husband Shawn of Shattuck, OK, April Smith, of Oklahoma City, Misty Chesmore Gregory and husband Greg of Vici, OK, step-grandson's, Kelly and Matt Corcoran, of Edmond, OK, great-grandchildren; Wyatt and Jenna Castor, Haley, Payton, Hannah and Cooper Gregory, Nikkita Saunders and Christopher Smith, step-children, David and Kay Mason, Edwanna Myers, Elvin Greenfield all of Cushing, OK, and Darwin Greenfield, of Visalia, CA.

Carl was born, grew up, made his own home and raised his children all within a 5 mile radius of this, his final resting place. He will surely be missed by all who knew him.
