IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Carol Blanche
(Day) Forbes
October 10, 1939 – August 19, 2024
Carol Blanche (Day) Forbes passed away peacefully at her home in Gage, Oklahoma, on August 19, 2024, at the age of 84. Born on October 10, 1939, in Trail, Oklahoma, Carol was the cherished daughter of Leslie Charles and Wilma Frances (Vinyard) Day. Her first breath was taken in the family barn, nestled in the heart of Trail Flats, where she would spend her formative years.
Carol's early education took her through the schools of Trail, Leedey, and Butler, where she was a proud member of the Class of 1957. Among her academic accomplishments, she was notably recognized for achieving perfect attendance for two consecutive years—a testament to her dedication and perseverance.
Throughout her life, Carol called many places across Oklahoma home. She pursued her passion for beauty by attending beauty college and later launched her career as a successful beautician. Carol's first marriage was to Floyd Broadbent, with whom she welcomed three sons: Tracy Floyd, Troy Stephen, and Curtis Leon, though he was still-born.
On April 28, 1975, Carol married the love of her life, Jackie Doyle Forbes. Their marriage was a true partnership, characterized by deep love and mutual respect. Jackie adored Carol, often spoiling her with thoughtful gestures. Carol's affection for him was evident in every aspect of their lives together.
Professionally, Carol found fulfillment working in school cafeterias while Jackie devoted himself to teaching and coaching. Beyond her work, Carol had a wide range of interests. She enjoyed playing the slots at the casino, following the Oklahoma City Thunder and OU sports, and keeping up with her favorite soap opera, The Young and The Restless. A talented artist, she expressed her creativity through painting and crocheting, and she took great pride in maintaining a warm and welcoming home. Carol was famous for her mouth-watering macaroni and cheese and fried chicken, dishes that brought comfort and joy to those around her.
A lover of nature and animals, Carol had a special bond with hummingbirds and kept two crows as pets. Her compassionate heart extended to all creatures, often taking in injured animals and nursing them back to health. Her garden was a vibrant reflection of her love for plants and flowers, which she tended to with great care.
Carol was baptized as a child into the Church of Christ, a faith that remained close to her heart throughout her life.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Leslie and Wilma Day; her beloved husband, Jackie Forbes; and her sons, Tracy Broadbent, Troy Broadbent, and Curtis Broadbent. She is also preceded by her brother, Jerry Day; her sister, Sharon Metzler; and her niece, Frannie McClendon.
Carol's memory will be cherished by her surviving family members, including her grandchildren: Katrina Clayton and her children, Faith and Taylor Clayton; Curtis Broadbent and his son, Creedence Broadbent; Stephanie Broadbent and her children, Brianna, Troy, and Randy Burton; William Broadbent; Sarah Broadbent and her children, Hadleigh and Tracy Glitsch; and Austin Broadbent and his children, Bentley and Cooper Broadbent. She is also survived by her brother-in-law, Wesley Metzler; nephews, Charles Metzler and Roy McClendon; great-nephew, Klint McClendon; great-nieces, Kathy Frantz and Krista Sheetz, as well as many other relatives and friends who will miss her dearly.
