Obituary
Carol Rae Carmichael Gourley, 74, of Corinth, Texas, passed away from this life on October 5, 2014 in Flower Mound, Texas. Carol Rae was born in Higgins, Texas on June 28, 1940 to Ray and Hazel Gragg Carmichael.
She graduated from Higgins High School and attended Northwestern Oklahoma State University in Alva, OK and West Texas State University in Canyon, Texas, earning a degree in secondary education.
Gary Nat Gourley and Carol Rae Carmichael were married on December 22, 1962. Gary and Carol had three children: Dennis Craig, born March 3, 1964, Brian Todd, born September 15, 1966, and Natalie Carol, born July 16, 1974. She was a wonderful mother and truly loved.
She was proudest of her 5 grandchildren: Makayla Anne (15), Emma Caroline (10), Dylan Ramzy (11), Hudson Adeeb (9), and Logan Pierce (6).
Carol is survived by her husband Gary Gourley of Corinth, TX; son Craig Gourley wife Terresa of Oak Point, TX; sonTodd Gourley and his wife Melanie of Argyle, Tx; daughter Natalie Bathish and her husband Ramzy of Highland Village, TX; sister Linda Knowles and husband Jerry of Arnett, OK; sister Suzie Hardison of Roanoake, TX; sister Frankie Summers of Garden City, KS; and brother-in-law Ken Bickelhaupt of Dallas, TX as well as many nieces, nephews, other loved ones, and friends. She was the most gentle woman we could ever know. Her love and every thought surrounded her family, her children and grandchildren.
Carol was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Troy Lee, Jack and Denny Mack Carmichael; brother-in-law Tom Hardison; as well as nephews Doug Hardison and Jeff Knowles.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, November 15, 2014 at 2:00 P. M. at the First United Methodist Church in Higgins, Texas with Pastor Blake Durham presiding.
The family has set up a donation account in Carol's memory. Fund raised will go towards helping with medical cost of her niece Mary Sue Farrier who has been fighting bravely against leukemia.
