IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Carol Anne
Pollock
May 28, 1940 – February 21, 2020
Carol Anne (Carter) Pollock was born May 28, 1940 at Pumpkin Ridge Community in Dewey County, OK to Orma and Doris (Bowser) Carter and passed away Friday, February 21, 2020, at Mercy Hospital in Oklahoma City, at the age of 79 years, 8 months, 24 days.
Carol Anne attended first through twelfth grade at Taloga Public Schools and graduated with the Class of 1958. After graduating she went on to further her education at Southwestern Oklahoma State College in Weatherford, OK from 1958 to 1960, where she studied for an Associates of Arts degree in Secretarial Sciences.
On August 20, 1961 Carol Anne married the love of her life Walter Doyle Pollock at the First Christian Church in Taloga. After marriage, they lived briefly in Okmulgee, OK while Doyle finished his degree in carpentry at OSU Tech and outside of Lexington, KY while Doyle finished his hitch in the Army. Then returned home to Taloga for the rest of their lives. Carol Anne stayed busy helping Doyle farm, ranch, operate Pollock feed and fertilizer in Taloga as well as raising their three boys Russell Doyle, Michael Allen and Jeffrey Carter whom she was very proud of.
Carol Anne in her spare time loved to read, sing and spend time with her boys and grandchildren. In her younger years she enjoyed following her boys around and supporting them in all their events. She enjoyed raising her granddaughter Kayla and she rarely missed one of her softball games. She looked forward to her weekend phone calls with her sister and best friend, Donna Jeanne, where they caught up on the past week's activities, laughed and solved all of their kids and grandkids problems if they would only listen to them. Donna Jeanne always joked with Carol Anne about "the time she fed her chicken poop and old vet medicine" it has been a family joke for many of years. Most of all she loved spoiling her cats and dogs, which she had all her life.
Carol Anne was lifelong member of the Taloga First Christian Church where she was baptized early in life. She taught Sunday School for many years and sometimes led congregational singing. She attended services regularly until her severe arthritis, which she first began experiencing at age seven, created too many painful difficulties for her. She wasn't able to get out and about like she wanted to due to her arthritis pain but she always enjoyed when company would come by to visit. She enjoyed being able to keep up with family and friends on Facebook as well.
Carol Anne is preceded in death by her husband, Walter Doyle Pollock, her parents, Orma and Doris Carter and her close friend and sister-in-law Virginia Iris Pollock.
She is survived by her sons, Dr. Jeff Pollock of Taloga, OK, Mike Pollock of Taloga, OK and Pr. Russ Pollock of Oklahoma City, OK; granddaughter Kayla Pollock of Woodward, OK; two great-granddaughters Hadley King of Woodward, OK and Braylee Hinkle of Oklahoma City, OK; grandson Kyler Owens of Leedey OK; sister Donna Jeanne Taylor and husband Chuck of Woodward, OK; her niece and "little sister" Sidonna Gayle Davis of Woodward, OK; several beloved nieces, nephews, an Oklahoma-load of cousins and a host of friends.
She was the definition of a giving and self-sacrificing mother. She would go to bat for her family and sometimes did. She often did without, so that her family wouldn't have to. She was in pain her entire life with arthritis but suffered in silence (usually). She was a great lady that wasn't aware she was great. She is loved and she will be sorely missed. She was the anchor that held her family together through good times and bad.
