Obituary

Charity Marie Watkins was welcomed into the loving arms of her parents, Benny E. Watkins and the late Christy Marie Terrel Watkins, on September 28, 1989 in Vici, Oklahoma. Charity was a quiet yet spirited youngster who captivated the hearts of everyone she was around. She became the proud big sister of Chesney Paige with whom she shared an inseparable bond throughout her life. Charity loved playing dolls and especially fixing their hair. This paid off in later years when helping with her three younger sisters, Ashlyn, Kylan, and Jadyn. While Charity's early years were filled with new experiences and lots of laughter, she endured heartache at the tender age of eight with the passing of her mother. Charity's struggles were great during those trying times but God soon blessed Charity and her family when her mom Jill Gardner came into their lives.

Growing up, Charity was not your typical little girl. While she loved playing with the traditional "little girl" fare, she also loved the outdoors, especially fishing, deer hunting, riding horses, operating equipment with her dad and playing with her dog Maynard. In fact, during one of her first school assignments she wrote that she wanted to be a tom boy so she could be more like her dad. Charity never lost her love of the outdoors. From bungee jumping, to snow boarding, to going to the lake and camping, she always took great joy in being outside and getting dirty. Deer season was always one of Charity's favorite times of year. Her true calling was in the skinning room where she dazzled the many hunters with her looks and talent with a blade.

Though studying was not a priority, Charity always excelled at school. One of her fondest achievements was placing 2nd in the state in BPA which qualified her team for a trip to nationals in Reno, Nevada; a trip that she got to take with her mom, dad and Chesney. Softball and basketball played an important part in Charity's high school career. A dream of Charity's came true when she captained her team to Vici's first state basketball appearance in 80 years where they shocked their first round opponent and got a chance to play in the "Big House". Because of Charity's hard work, dedication and perseverance both on and off the court, she was selected for the fighting Indian award.

At an early age, Charity learned to "shop till you drop" from her Granny Barbara which caused her to develop a love for fashion. This love was passed on to Charity's younger sisters. Benny and Jill were ever thankful when she took a job with The Bank of Western Oklahoma so she could begin supporting her sense of style. Charity loved shoes, big purses, and big sunglasses, but will always be remembered for her big smile.

Church was an important part of Charity's life. She was baptized into the General Assembly and Church of the Firstborn on June 8, 2008. Charity found inspiration in fasting, praying, visiting her brethren and sharing her faith. She also enjoyed spending time with the young kids. Some of her favorite moments with her church family included the annual camping trip to Foss Lake, hayrides and skiing in Colorado.

Charity was preceded in death by her mom, Christy Watkins; infant brother, Brock Watkins; and grandmother, Bobbie Watkins. She is survived by her parents, Benny and Jill Watkins; four loving sisters, Chesney, Ashlyn, Kylan, and Jadyn; grandparents, Melvin & Barbara Terrel, Benny & Joyce Watkins, and Louis & Betty Gardner; numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, and a special friend Jared Francis, along with a host of brethren and friends.
