Charles Roy Craig II was born to Roy and Hazel Parks Craig September 17, 1938, in Stillwater, Oklahoma. He was baptized in the First Baptist Church October 3, 1948, and attended college at Oklahoma State University.
He was proud of his service in the US Army Reserves. He and some buddies were injured in a training incident at Fort Chaffee.
He was interested in the law and political activity, holding positions of leadership in several organizations, including the Young Democrats of OSU and the state of Oklahoma, later moving to Washington, D.C. where he worked for several legislators and briefly in the Library of Congress.
He passed from this life in Mt. Sinai Hospital, Miami Beach, Florida on July 19, 2013 at the age of 74, following a lengthy bout with cancer.
Charles was especially soft-hearted with regard to animals. He arranged a funeral service for some baby possums he had found and attempted to nurse back to health. Also, after the Leedey tornado in 1949 his major concern when coming out of the cellar was for baby turtles he had gathered during the afternoon. He was greatly relieved to find them safe in the bed of their new pickup.
He was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his brother, Joe F. Craig, sister-in-law Jeanne of Leedey, Oklahoma; brother and sister-in-law Jack and Judy Craig of Yukon, Oklahoma; sister Nancy Dingman of Orlando, Florida; nieces, nephews, other relatives, and many friends.
