Charles Emery Fairchild, son of Emery C. Fairchild and Ila Ruth (Sills) Fairchild began his earthly journey on July 28, 1934, in Taloga, OK. He completed his journey at the age of 88 years, 1 month and 29 days of age in Camargo, OK on September 26, 2022. His early years and school days were spent in the South Canadian River area and he was a member of the graduating class of 1952 from Camargo High School. Following in the footsteps of his father, Charles pursued a career in education. He attended Southwestern Oklahoma State University in Weatherford, OK. receiving his teaching degree and in 1970 he completed his master's degree.
In 1957 he served in the U.S. Army and was honorably discharged in 1963. Following his return to Camargo, OK, he accepted a teaching position at Moscow, KS, and there he met the love of his life, Iris Corinne Shepherd. On May 26, 1963, Charles and Iris were united in marriage and their home was blessed with three sons, Steve, Greg and Scot. They made their home in Moscow, KS. before returning to reside in Camargo in 1971. Charles continued his teaching career for 30 years; he was dedicated to the Camargo Community and a member of the Camargo First Christian Church.
Charles was preceded in death by his beloved wife Iris; his mother Ila Fairchild in 1944; his father Emery C. Fairchild in 1993; his stepmother Vila Fairchild; stepsister Merle Harrel and other loved ones.
He is survived by his sons, Steve and wife Rosemary of Flower Mound, TX, Greg of Camargo, OK and Scot and his wife LaNyska of Weatherford, OK; seven grandchildren, Ellyn Fairchild, Erika Fairchild, Aidan Fairchild Riley Fairchild, Magen Fairchild, Michael Fairchild and Corianne Fairchild-Scott and her husband Dylan and one great grandchild Owen Scott. His siblings, Bill Fairchild and wife Leah of Mulvane, KS, Mike Fairchild and wife Brenda of Camargo, OK, Gayle Thompson and husband Mike of Edmond, OK and Pearl Castor and husband Bud of Sharon, OK; nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.
