IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Charles Lynn
Evans
May 30, 1950 – June 28, 2024
Charles Lynn Evans, born on May 30, 1950, in Clinton, OK, to Lynn Everett and Alta Marie (Smith) Evans, passed away on June 28, 2024, in Vici, OK. He was born premature, weighing only 3 pounds, the doctors said he wouldn't make it through the night. He spent his childhood in various communities, including Camp Creek, Stillwater, Balko, and Vici.
At a young age, Charles Lynn had a rare disease that left him partially crippled. He never let that slow him down and undoubtedly contributed to his determined personality.
Charles Lynn began his education at Vici before moving to Taloga, then Kingfisher County, where he attended Kingfisher school and Big Four school. He completed his high school education at Lomega, graduating as valedictorian of the Class of 1968. Charles Lynn pursued higher education at Southwestern Oklahoma State University in Weatherford before transferring to the University of Oklahoma in Norman. In his final year, following the unexpected death of his father, Charles Lynn returned to Vici to support his mother.
In Vici, he worked at the Vici CO-OP before joining CF Industries as a Purchasing Agent, where it took multiple men to fill his position upon his departure. Later, he moved to Sacramento, CA, to work for the Sacramento Housing Authority until his retirement, after which he returned to Vici in the early 2010s.
Charles Lynn had a passion for motorcycles, particularly his Suzuki Burgman, Honda Goldwing, and Honda 750. He enjoyed dining out, was a staunch OU Football fan who enjoyed ribbing OSU fans, and was known for his political conversations, being a Republican and joking about conspiracy theories. His intelligence, meticulous nature, and penchant for buying in bulk and anything with pockets were well-known traits.
A devoted member of the General Assembly and Church of the Firstborn, Charles Lynn was baptized by Bro. Eddie Tomlinson on September 30, 1975, in Vici. As a member of the church he loved to travel to various local assemblies and across the nation. Through the years he opened his home to many young men, providing temporary housing until they could get established on their own.
Charles Lynn truly loved children. He loved to buy gifts for all his nephews and nieces, and he adopted the children of several of his close church friends. Every year at Christmas he would buy gifts for all the children and enlist the help of close friend Dana Thompson to wrap all the gifts. He also loved taking the children on special adventures. They went on trips to the zoo, outings for ice cream and he even let the children drive his old Honda Accord. Charles Lynn was always very generous and loved to invite friends, family and brethren to dine out with him, always paying the bill.
He was preceded in death by his father, Lynn Evans, and brother, Brent Evans. Charles Lynn is survived by his mother, Alta Evans, his brothers Dale Evans (and wife Paula) of Edmond, OK, Mark Evans (and wife Brenda) of Perryton, TX, Lynn Evans (and wife Melody) of Vici, OK, Johnny Evans (and wife Brenda) of Woodward, OK, sister-in-law Kitty Evans, his sister Lynnetta Hutfless (and husband Tim) of Omaha, NE, and many nieces and nephews.
Charles Lynn Evans will be remembered for his intelligence, kindness, and the lasting impact he made on his family and community.
