Cheryl Lynn Ragains, age 64, of Taloga, Oklahoma, passed away peacefully at home on May 24, 2026. She was born June 21, 1961, in Shelby, Ohio, to Herbert and Ethel Cox. Cheryl spent her childhood in the Seiling and Taloga area, graduating from Taloga High School as a proud member of the class of 1979. On October 6, 1979, she married her high school sweetheart Kenneth Ragains. The couple briefly lived in Hinton and Cheyenne before making Taloga their lifelong home. Cheryl worked at Joe Bob Nelson’s carpet store before beginning her dedicated career in public service at the Dewey County Assessor’s Office. In 2002, she continued her work with the Oklahoma Tax Commission until her retirement in 2023. She truly loved her job, her colleagues, and the travels that came with it — but what she loved most of all was her family. She was the proud and loving mother of two children: Jennifer, born in 1982, and Brett, born in 1992. In her free time, Cheryl loved cooking for her family and cherished holiday gatherings, fishing on quiet afternoons, and tending to her landscaping — finding joy in making things grow and her home beautiful. These simple pleasures brought her great peace and happiness. Cheryl will be remembered for her warmth, her kindness, and the quiet strength she carried through every chapter of her life. She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her. She is preceded in death by her parents, Herbert and Ethel Cox and her sister Robin Cox Whetstone Lowery Cheryl is survived by her husband, Kenneth; her daughter, Jennifer Canaday and husband Joe; her son, Brett Ragains and wife Alexandra . Her many grandchildren, Ashton Fallwell, Brayden Stuteville, Steven Cooper, Brayden Chapman Canaday, Tyler, Ryan, Ryleigh,Elizabeth, Raylan LittleHawk; great-grandchildren, Mavelynn and Jasper Fallwell. Sisters Pamela Welch and husband Tom; Brenda Holcomb; and Carol Ramsey. Many other nieces and nephews along with a host of other extended family and dear friends who will miss her laughter, warmth, and loving spirit.
