Clara Elizabeth (Leedy) Bruton was born September 30, 1911 in Arnett, Oklahoma and passed from this life September 17, 2009 at the age of 97. She was the daughter of Mabel A. (Foster) and Clarence B. Leedy, Attorney at Law, who also served as Oklahoma State Senator from 1921 – 1925.

Clara graduated from Arnett High School in 1929. She married Darrel Bruton on January 16, 1931 and lived on the family farm nine miles south of Shattuck. To this union two daughters were born, Phyllis Ione and Norma Jean.

Clara was a devoted housewife and mother who lived in Oklahoma all her life. She was a member of the Eastern Star. Clara was a talented seamstress and enjoyed gardening.

Clara was preceded in death by her husband Darrel Bruton, her parents, Mabel and Clarence Leedy, seven brothers and three sisters. She is survived by her daughters, Phyllis Ashpaugh and husband Floyd of Arnett, Oklahoma and Norma Ehrlich and husband Donald of Edmond, Oklahoma, four grandchildren, Randall Birkle, Marla Summerour, Linda Laws and Lyle Ehrlich, 10 great-grandchildren, 1 great-great-grandchild, other relatives and many dear friends.
