Obituary

Clarence Odell Watson, 79-year-old Leedey resident, passed from this life on June 1, 2009 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.

Odell was born on September 10, 1929 on the family farm near Aledo, Oklahoma to Clarence Alexander and Willie May (Williams) Watson. He attended Aledo Country School, grades one through eight, transferring to Leedey High School and graduating with the class of 1947. He lived and grew up on the hill west of Aledo until he married Icie Mae (Watson) on August 10, 1947. The wedding took place on the Watson home place. The couple was blessed with two children, Gary Odell and Linda Kay. The family made their home in the Aledo area for a time before moving to Booker, Texas where Odell worked on a cattle ranch. They moved back to Aledo for a year then moved to California to be near family. They remained in California for a year and a half where Odell worked as a Ford Mechanic and as a foreman on a fruit ranch. They returned home to Aldeo to run the farm. Odell was in tractor sales for a period in Clinton and worked in dirt construction, building many of the ASCS farm ponds in the Leedey area. After retiring, the couple moved to Leedey, Oklahoma.

In 1968, Odell was baptized and became a member of the Church of Christ in Leedey, Oklahoma. He was a very faithful member and when anything needed done he was there. He reupholstered the church pews twice. He was an Elder in the church for over thirty years.

Odell was preceded in death by his parents, Clarence and Willie Watson; grandson, Micah Dell Minor; sister, Vola Murphy; brothers-in-law, John Murphy and Lowell Rounds.

He is survived by his loving wife, Icie Mae of the home in Leedey, Oklahoma; son, Gary Watson and wife Chrys of Leedey, Oklahoma; daughter, Linda Minor and husband Kell of Florence, Alabama; grandchildren, Amber Watson of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, Katy Haddock and husband Jason of Florence, Alabama, Kit Watson and wife Kacie of Leedey, Oklahoma, Jeremy Minor and wife Deda of Florence, Alabama, Rebecca Burgess and husband Jon of Auburn, Alabama and Ashlyn Watson of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; sister, Johnnie Rounds of Leedey, Oklahoma; six great-grandchildren many nieces, nephews, other family and a host of friends.
