IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Curtis "Ct"
Eugene Torrance
April 5, 1949 – August 1, 2020
Curtis Eugene Torrance was born April 5, 1949 to Hale Eugene Torrance and Lois Elmina (McNaughton) Torrance at Ashland, Kansas. At the age of 71 years on August 1, 2020 he died due to a 4-wheeler accident.
Curtis grew up on the family farm at Buffalo, OK with his three older sisters Elaine, Kay, and Caroline. He attended school at Buffalo, graduating in 1967. He furthered his education at NWOSU, Alva, OK, receiving a bachelor's degree in accounting in 1971.
On December 20, 1970 he married Kay Yvonne Harrell at Alva, OK. Upon his college graduation they moved to Hooker, OK where he was employed as an accountant at Master Feeders feedlot. He was soon promoted to office manager of the Hitch Feedlot at which time they moved into Guymon, OK. Three children were born to Curtis and Kay while living in Guymon ---Nathan Eugene, Loretta Kay and Mark Benjamin.
In September of 1977 Earl Randolph of Gage, OK called Curtis and asked if he would consider coming to Gage and work for him at the Gage Lumber yard as floor salesman. After much prayer and consideration, he accepted the offer, thus moving his little family to Gage. He worked for Earl for two years, at which time his father-in-law, Leslie Harrell, asked him if he would like to take over his farming operation. He accepted. Thus, began his farming/ranching occupation. Curtis also worked on the side at Flag Transport as a truck driver for a few years.
Curtis was a very strong Christian man always serving in some capacity in the church. In 1983 God told him to start a church in Gage, which at first, he reluctantly agreed to. Thus, Believers Chapel was founded with Curtis as Pastor. In 1997 he was introduced to the Oklahoma Apostolic Prayer Network in Oklahoma City. This organization became a source of spiritual encouragement and maturity in his walk with God to his last day.
Curtis was presently serving on the Ellis county Excise Board, Gage Chamber of Commerce, and Gage Ministerial Alliance. He was a member of the Oklahoma and the National Cattlemen's Associations, a past member of the Ellis County Fair Board, OSU Advisory Committee, Gage school board, and Fargo Co-op board.
Curtis was a jack-of-all trades and master of all. His life motto was "Do what's right because it's right and do it right". If you ever asked him how he was, he only had one answer, "EXCELLENT, BLESSED AND HIGHLY FAVORED!"
Curtis is survived by his wife and co-laborer in all things, Kay, his children Nathan Torrance and Jamie, Mckenzie (Clay) Teel, Ethan, Trey, Cale, and Daxton Torrance of Hammon, OK; Loretta (Dr. Brian) Spitzer, Hannah, Daniel, Haley, and Samantha Spitzer of Pratt, KS; Mark (Katy) and Temperince Torrance of Gage, OK.; sisters Elaine Edmonds, Kay (Terrald) Drew, Caroline (Keith) Waugh, many nieces and nephews and a host of friends.
