Daniel Lee "Danny" Thacker, a cherished husband, father, musician, and friend, passed away on March 4, 2024, in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, leaving behind a legacy of love, music, and fond memories. He was 66 years old.
Danny was born on May 22, 1957, in Mangum, Oklahoma, to James William Thacker and Evie Jo (Maloney) Thacker. Growing up in Hobart and Elk City, Oklahoma, he embraced the values of family, friendship, and community.
On November 2, 1980, Danny married the love of his life, Sharon Elizabeth Kupka, in Elk City, Oklahoma. Together, they built a beautiful family and shared many precious moments. They were blessed with one daughter Dixie.
The family settled in Leedey, Oklahoma, where Danny worked diligently for the city. Later, they relocated to Elk City, where Danny remained until his passing. While Danny held various jobs, his heart belonged to music. He was the talented guitarist for two bands, John Wayne and the Hired Guns, and 100 Proof Country. Through his music, Danny touched the hearts of many and created lasting memories for those who had the pleasure of listening to him play.
Apart from music, Danny had a passion for collecting coins, a hobby that brought him great joy and satisfaction throughout his life.
Danny was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Sharon Thacker, infant son Joseph, infant daughter Holley, parents James and Evie Jo Thacker, maternal grandfather Clin Maloney, maternal grandmother Ruby Stuckey, sister Jeanette Hart, sister Julie Olson, and brother-in-law Billy Joe Reece.
He is survived by his beloved daughter, Dixie Barker, grandchildren Jasey and Jeremiah Barker, adopted daughter Angel Ainsworth, brother Mike Thacker and wife Joyce, aunt Norma Jean, niece Krissy Britton, nephew Dan Wells, son-in-law Joey Barker, brother-in-law Bryan Davis, sister-in-law Melanie Reece, sister-in-law Lori Kupka, brother-in-law Rowdy Wells, and numerous other lifelong friends, family members, and loved ones.
Danny will be remembered for his kind heart, infectious laughter, and unwavering love for his family and friends. His spirit will live on in the memories he created and the lives he touched.
Danny Thacker will forever be cherished and dearly missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him. May he rest in peace, reunited with his beloved Sharon and their angelic children, as his music echoes in the hearts of those who loved him.
