Darla Sue Valentine, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and faithful servant of God, was born January 1, 1959, in Agra, Oklahoma, to Earl and Juanita Northrup. Darla lived a life centered around her faith, her family, and her love for others.

On October 31, 1980, Darla married the love of her life, Mark Valentine, in Redding, California. Together, they built a beautiful life and were blessed with two children, Shayna and Derick. Throughout their marriage, Darla and her family made their home in Redding, California; Elma, Washington; Delta, Colorado; Corinth, Texas; and Vici, Oklahoma.

Darla devoted much of her life to being a homemaker, where she lovingly cared for her family and created a home filled with love. She cherished every opportunity to spend time with her children, grandchildren, extended family, and her church family. Her family was her greatest joy, and the love she gave them will continue to live on through the generations.

Darla’s faith was a cornerstone of her life. She was a member of the General Assembly Church of the Firstborn and was baptized on October 31, 1975, at the age of 16. Darla served God with all her heart, body, and soul. Her faith, kindness, and devotion were evident in the way she lived her life and cared for those around her.

Darla had many hobbies and interests that brought her happiness. She loved writing poems, coloring to relax, doing puzzles, bird watching, and spending time with those she loved. She especially enjoyed Christmas and Halloween. Darla had a tender heart for animals and was a devoted cat lover, animal rescuer, and protector. She found great joy in helping and caring for animals in need.

Darla will be remembered for her loving heart, her devotion to God, her compassion for people and animals, and the countless memories she created with her family. Her love and influence will continue through her children, grandchildren, and all who were blessed to know her.

Darla was preceded in death by her parents, Earl and Juanita Northrup; her stepmother, Helen Northrup; her grandparents, Durward and Ruby Stevens and Orville and Zona Northrup; and her step-grandmother, Helen Northrup.

Those left to cherish Darla’s memory include her loving husband, Mark Valentine; her son, Derick Valentine and wife, Jackie; her daughter, Shayna McGaha and husband, Tony; her brothers, Joe Northrup, Dan Northrup, and Jeff Northrup; eight grandchildren; and numerous other family members and loved ones.

Though she will be deeply missed, Darla’s family takes comfort in knowing that her life was devoted to God and that the love she shared with others will never be forgotten. Her memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved her.
