Darrell Leroy Turner was born on May 25, 1945 to Cecil DeWayne and Lavera Frances (Brown) Turner in Woodward, OK. In his early life, Darrell moved constantly with his family from Army base to Army base, this included White Sands, New Mexico; Bremerhaven, Germany; Yokohama, Japan; Seymour, France; Kaiserslautern, Germany; and Fort Lewis, Washington. At Washington, Darrell attended school until the 11th grade. In Washington, Darrell married Sherry Wadell, and to this union was born a son, Jody Lee.
The family resided in Washington before Darrell moved to Kentucky where he joined the Job Corp. He returned to Washington before moving to Vici, Oklahoma in 1981 where he resided for the rest of his life. Darrell was a leather worker and built Single Tree Saddle Repair on Broadway Street in Vici. He crafted many fine pieces at his leather shop, and he was particularly fond of his holsters that he made. He also repaired the baseball gloves of local high school baseball players for free. Darrell was a member of the Lions Club and the NRA and was active in his participation of both.
Darrell passed from this life on March 28, 2019 in Seiling, Oklahoma. He is preceded in death by his parents Cecil and Lavera. Darrell is survived by his son Jody Lee and wife Hannah of North Carolina; sister Terrie Hensley and husband James of Humble, Texas; brother Robert Turner of Muldrow, Oklahoma; brother Jerry Turner and wife Rebecca of Olympia, Washington; nieces, nephews, and a host of friends.
