Obituary

Daryl Ray Zuelsdorf was born on August 8, 1948, in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, to Lorenz Emil and Harriet Marion (Black) Zuelsdorf.  He passed from this life August 25, 2024, in Woodward, Oklahoma, at the age of 76.

Daryl spent his early years in La Mesa, California, where his family relocated. He attended elementary school and graduated from high school in La Mesa. On October 29, 1968, he was inducted into the U.S. Army, where he served his country with honor. Daryl earned the National Defense Service Medal and an Expert Badge for the M-14 rifle. He attained the rank of SP4 before being honorably discharged on October 19, 1970.

In 1994, Daryl moved to Woodward, Oklahoma, where he embarked on a career in the automotive repair business that spanned over thirty years. He was dedicated to his craft, believing in the principle that if something was worth doing, it was worth doing right. Daryl's perfectionism and attention to detail were evident in his work.  He will be remembered for his strong work ethic.

On August 9, 2007, Daryl married Carolyn Sue "Susie" Salisbury, at the Woodward County Courthouse. They made their home in Woodward. In his spare time, Daryl enjoyed the outdoors, whether it was fishing, hunting, or playing a round of golf—activities that brought him peace and a sense of closeness to the Lord.

Daryl was preceded in death by his wife Susie, his parents, his brothers Gary and Dale Zuelsdorf, his stepson Cody McDowell, his father-in-law John Salisbury, his sister-in-law Janice Parker, his brother-in-law Steve Salisbury and other family members and friends.

He is survived by his son Eric Zuelsdorf; his grandchildren Dustin Zuelsdorf, Kiana and Kaidan Knight, Tripp McDowell and Hannah, Emma, and Ethan Davis; his nieces Katryn Robinson and husband Don and Kristin Grammer and husband John; his mother-in-law Dixie Salisbury; his daughter-in-law Heather McDowell; his brothers-in-law Charlie Salisbury and wife Jacque and Chuck Parker; his sisters-in-law Donna Mitchell, Deena Outhier and husband Milburn and Rhonda Haynie and husband Allan. He is also survived by his special friend and caretaker Shance Whisenhunt and his son Kallen, along with other relatives and friends who will miss him dearly.
