David Miles Halbert was born on May 19, 1923, to Walter and Pearl (Mitchell) Halbert, in Peek, Oklahoma. He passed from this life on September 20, 2012, in Vici Oklahoma, at the age of 89. Davy was the oldest of six children. He attended the Redden School for a few years before staying home to help his folks on the family farm. Being a true cowboy, Davy loved helping with the cattle, fishing, feeding the wild turkeys, and whistling and singing along when the family gathered to "make music."
Although being handicapped, Davy had a knack for making friends. Whether he and Vernon were headed to town or driving to a nearby dance, Davy knew no strangers. He believed in being kind and polite. In later years, Davy became a good caregiver for his mother and then his brother. Finally, he moved to the Vici Nursing Home where he could be taken care of.
Davy was preceded in death by his parents Walter and Pearl Halbert, two sisters Wilma Geurin and Eileen Hunter, two brothers Vernon Halbert and infant Lester Halbert, one nephew Walter Halbert.
He is survived by his sister, Myldred Dennett, of Pittsburg, Kansas; a special nephew, Denny Hunter, of Woodward, Oklahoma; nephew and niece, Travis and Lorri Dennett, of Vici, Oklahoma; many other family members he held dear; and a corral full of friends.
