Obituary

Jesus welcomed David Leslie Miller home March 22, 2025.  David, Bear, as he was fondly called by friends and family, was born in Grants New Mexico on July 29, 1960 and was the son of Bob and Lou Miller of Alva, OK.  David grew up in Alva and attended school there and graduated from Alva High in 1978.  He met his wife, Regina Gross, in 1978.  They fell in love and wed in 1980.  They had four children, two boys, Nathan and Jason, and two girls, Joelle and Marilou.  David went to work in the oilfield as a rough neck and eventually to fracking.  He really loved the oilfield, but when it crashed in 1984 he changed careers and started driving an 18 wheeler.  He drove for more than 30 years without any major accidents.  More than a million miles! As anyone who knew David, knew that his passion was working out at the gym.  He wished that he could have been there more, but work seemed to always get in the way.  One of his dreams was to open his own gym one day.  He also loved OU football and would go to home games with two special friends, Brad and Scott.  They were characters!!  He loved his family and friends and would do whatever he could for them.  He had a rough exterior but had a soft heart.  He was a big teddy bear!!  He had been talking about retiring soon, but . . . One of his kids said he just skipped the step of retiring here and just went on to heaven.  No more pain, no more suffering and he can see color now, no more driving an 18 wheeler in Dallas!! If you know, you know!!

David is survived by his wife Regina of 44 years, sons Nathan and Jason, daughters Joelle and Marilou and one grandson, Mason.  His sister Bunny Smith (George) of Las Vegas, Cindy Burrow (Phil) of Alva, sister in law and brother in law Judy and Verlyn Johnson of Arnett, sister in law and brother in law Karen and Jerry Barton of Ardmore, sister in law Faye Gross and sister in law Brenda Gross of Arnett.  A special niece Shell McKormick and many other wonderful nieces and nephews and many great nieces and nephews.  Also many, many wonderful friends whom he loved dearly.

He is so missed by his family and friends.  We will never have another "Bear" in our lives.  We know that he is with Jesus now and those who know Jesus will see him again.  David wants to see all of his family and friends again, so he invites you to come to Jesus.
