Obituary

David Frank Sweet was born in Denver, CO. on September 15, 1948 to Fulton and Mary (Grippa) Sweet, the third of their five sons.  He passed from this life on May 18, 2022 surrounded by his loving family.  He spent his childhood and school years in Denver, CO. where he graduated from Mapleton High School in 1966, being recognized as an outstanding athlete.  He earned his college degree in Industrial Arts in 1970 at the University of Northern Colorado.  He met the love of his life Barbara Yearous while in college and they married June 15, 1968.  He began his teaching career after graduation and taught four years in Dubuque, IA. then relocated to Fort Lupton, CO. and taught in Brighton, CO. for eleven years.  He moved his family to Delta CO. where he began to work in construction until he retired.  After moving to Vici, OK. in 2011, he continued to enjoy building various wood projects including log beds, Adirondack chairs, and many more beautiful items.  He loved the time spent in his cedar shack or 'mining' copper and brass from used junk items.

He was baptized in the General Assembly and Church of the Firstborn on March 28, 1976 by Bro. Paul Bellew.  His devotion to the Faith was witnessed by all who knew him through the years.  His joys in life were his children, sports and games of all kinds, and the time spent with brethren and friends.  He will be missed for his "Dad" jokes, his love of all babies and children and his willingness to pray for any who were suffering. Those surviving to treasure his memory are his wife Barbara; children Tony Sweet and wife Michelle of Palisade, CO, Christa Morris and husband Eric of Vici, OK, Cara Baker of Vici, Ivy Bridges and husband Richard of Frisco, TX, Cassie Vest and husband Bryan of Delta, CO, Sarah Esser of Delta, CO; Jordan Sweet and wife Katie of Grand Junction, CO, Emily McGaha and husband Phil of Vici, OK, Cody Sweet and wife May of Delta, CO and Molly Ball and husband Dannon of Fruita, CO.  He is also survived by 38 grandchildren and 17 great grandchildren, his brother Greg Sweet and wife Bobbie of Arvada, CO., Bob and Bev Bever of Brush, CO., Jim and Betsy Yearous of Sapulpa, OK. and Wayne and Becky Shreves of Highlands Ranch, CO.  Numerous nieces, nephews, friends and dear brethren.

Preceeding him in death were two precious daughters, Tessa and Angela, his brother Joseph Sweet, grandson Derrick Rossiter, sons-in-law Gary Rossiter and Scott Esser and great grandson Logan Balderas.

Very special thanks and appreciation to Eric and Phil, our dear sons in law and our grandson Carter for their tender care during Dave's illness.
