Deborah Kay Nelson, daughter of Clifford Wayne Nelson and Bonnie Lue (Stahlman) Speer, was born on June 9, 1954, in Wichita, KS, and passed from this life on October 24, 2024, at the age of 70, in Norman, OK while in hospice while living with her sister Cheryl Green.  Debbie spent her childhood and early school years in both Wichita, KS and Englewood Colorado.  In 1965, Debbie's mother married Jess W. Speer and the family moved to Cedar Rapids, Iowa and stayed until 1966 when they once again moved, this time to Santa Ana, California. Eventually, the family moved to Arnett, OK to be close to her grandparents, John and Vera Stahlman and aunts, uncles, cousins and other family members. During high school Debbie worked at Newman Memorial Hospital in Shattuck, OK as a nurse's aide. After receiving her GED, Debbie worked several jobs in the area by plowing for various farmers around Arnett and mowing roadways for Ellis County. She also worked for the refinery east of Arnett, OK. She then decided to move to Midwest City and attended Oscar Rose and then went to the Moore-Norman Vo-tech school to learn carpentry work. She started working for a telephone company in Norman installing phones for businesses.  She eventually started working for Gulf Stream where she retired in the early 2004. Debbie will be remembered for her great wit, personality and being a hard worker.  She was preceded in death by her grandparents, John and Vera Stahlman, her parents, Clifford Nelson and Bonnie Speer, her sister, Connie Nelson Wilson and nephew, Jeffery Wilson. Debbie is survived by her two sisters, Donna Nelson and Cheryl Green, both from Norman, OK. She also leaves behind her nephews, Jamie Marsh, Sparks, NV, Glenn Flansburg, Tom Wilson, and Joe Stanley of Norman, OK and one niece, Tonya Groff, Norman, OK, her aunt, Kay Fiel of Oklahoma City, OK and many other relatives and friends.
