Delbert Clell Franklin was born to Albert Franklin and Cleo Lowry Franklin at Syracuse, Kansas on March 25, 1948. Delbert passed from this life on July 26, 2009 at the age of 61.
Delbert joined the United States Army and served his country from February 20, 1969 to June 17, 1974 achieving the rank of Sergeant E5. He fought in the Vietnam War and received the National defense Service Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal with 60 Device and Vietnam Service Medal with 4 Bronze Service Stars.
Delbert lived in the Putnam and Taloga areas in Dewey County, Oklahoma. He attended the Assembly of God Church and the Christian Church.
Delbert was married to Kathleen Wheeler and to this union, three children were born: Delbert Dewayne, Raymond Ray, and Amanda Margarette.
Delbert was self-employed and also worked for Bobby Logan and Ronnie Speer. He also delivered the Taloga Times Newspaper to the publishers office. In his spare time, he enjoyed fishing and hunting, and found special interest in the National Rifle Association. He also loved cats. Delbert was always willing to help someone in need. He was loved by many.
Delbert was preceded in death by his parents Albert and Cleo Franklin. Those left to cherish his memory are his sons, D. Dewayne Franklin of Hoxie, Kansas and Raymond Ray Franklin of Duncan, Oklahoma; daughter Amanda Margarette of Texas, brother Larry Franklin; eight grandchildren, and many dear friends.
