Devin was born in Apple Valley, CA. He grew up in Vernal, Utah, Rulison, CO and Shattuck, OK. After graduating high school, Devin joined the United States Navy. Devin was stationed in Japan; working in the USS Stethem as an Operations Specialist. He was certified as an Air Traffic Controller. During his time in the military, Devin traveled and trained in various places around the world. Devin trained with the Navy Seals capturing pirate vessels. Devin was also a decorated serviceman, earning recognition for his skills in marksmanship and his participation during wartime efforts.

After honorably discharging, Devin attended Mesa State College and Oklahoma State University for a short time before going to California to become a Certified Wind Turbine Technician. After completing the program, Devin was hired on to become a Traveling Wind Turbine Technician. This opportunity allowed Devin to travel to Beaumont, Texas and Limon, Colorado.

Devin is survived by his parents Calvin and (Marilyn) Murray of Rulison, CO and Carol Martin of Shattuck, OK, sister Kayla Murray of Ringwood, OK, brother Thomas Wellman of Shattuck, OK, step-sister Jennie Atwood of Grand Junction, CO and many aunts, uncles, other family members and friends.
