Obituary

Donald Dwight Roberts was born September 21, 1921 to Ralph W. and Margaret (Cox) Roberts. He passed from this life on September 24, 2010 at the age of 89. He was the oldest of 8 children. They lived on the farm northwest of Capron, OK.

Donald graduated from Capron High School in May, 1939. He attended a business college in Wichita, KS before entering the Army in August, 1942. He was with the 922nd Signal Corps attached to the Air Force stationed in Guam. He was discharged in January, 1946.

After the service he attended Oklahoma A&M in Stillwater graduating in 1951. On June 20, 1951 he was married to Julia Lou (Judy) McFarland. They were married 59 years.

Don taught 2 years at Creighton, Nebraska and 1 year in Sublett, KS. He then began a 30 year career with the USDA Farmers Home Administration.

In September, 1955 Don made a profession of faith and was baptized. Don was a member of the Shattuck First Baptist Church and the American Legion. Don was happiest when visiting with family, farming or tinkering with machinery. He was also an avid reader of the Bible and history.

He is preceded in death by his parents, brother John Roberts, brothers-in-law Bob Ludlum and Frank Lattimer, sister-in-law Margarett Roberts, and nephew Mitch Roberts.

He is survived by wife, Judy of the home in Shattuck, OK, daughter Karen Heaton and husband Dan of Alva, Ok, son Charles Roberts and wife Renee of Woodward, OK, grandchildren, Jeff Heaton and wife Jaci and son Jantz, Derek Heaton and wife Beth and son Cord, Lori Gorrell and husband Daniel, Troy Roberts, Josh Turner and wife Danielle, Caleb Turner and wife Charlot and children Maree and Ethan. He is also survived by sisters, Elaine Lattimer, Betty and Dave Langton, Bonnie Ludlum, Peggy and Paul Stanford, brothers, Howard and Fern Roberts, Larry Roberts and numerous nieces and nephews. He was a gentle and loving man who will be greatly missed by his family and friends.
