Donald "Don" Ray Trent, age 87, passed away at the Elk City Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Elk City, Oklahoma on October 2, 2022. Don was born on March 10, 1935 in Glen Alum, West Virginia to Earl Owen Trent and Vada E. (Hill) Trent.
He attended elementary and high school in Gilbert, West Virginia. After attending high school, on April 24, 1952, Don joined the United States Air Force and was a member for 20 years, 4 months, and 7 days, making the Air Force a career.
Don was united in marriage to Lucille Janet Reisewitz. To this union was born three children, Timothy, Connie, and Mark. He was then married to Mary Honda, and to this union was born a daughter, Michelle, and Don welcomed a stepson, Steven. Don was united in marriage to Anne Cliney, and they remained together until Anne's passing in 1992. In 1993, Don was joined in union to Carol Coursey Dull, and they remained together for 29 years until Don's passing.
Don had a strong Air Force career due to his leadership skills, sound judgement and perseverance. These are only a few of the characteristics that distinguished his splendid record in the service of our country. Since his enlistment in 1952 until retirement in 1972, his service being of great value to the organization that he served. His service at Ladd Air Force Base in Alaska and at Bergstrom Air Force Base in Texas from 1954 to 1959 was noteworthy. Once in management guides for supervisory personnel and won a superior rating for the 4130 th Wing at Bergstrom Air Force Base in Texas.
In 1959, Don was awarded the Air Force Commendations Medal while forming a new wing at Grand Forks Air Force Base in North Dakota. Again, he distinguished himself in 1963 to 1966 at Kindley Air Force Base in Bermuda, earning the First Oak Leaf Cluster to the Air Force Commendations Medal. Highlighting his service from 1966 to August 1972 was the awarding of the Joint Service Commendation Medal for service as administrative supervisor at the Headquarters North American Defense Command.
Don was also awarded three Air Medals for outstanding courage flying 103 combat missions in Southeast Asia and a second Oak Leaf Cluster awarded for the Air Force Commendations Medal while on Project Credible Chase at Eglin Air Force Base, Florida. To culminate his Air Force career, he was awarded a Third Oak Leaf Cluster by serving as administrative superintendent for the 4 th Strategic Missile Division located at Francis E Warren Air Force Base in Wyoming.
Don's Air Force career was a source of considerable pride and satisfaction to him.
Later, after retiring from the Air Force, Don spent much time hunting and fishing in Colorado, fishing in Alaska and establishing a boat building company, Aquatic Enterprises at Ft. Walton Beach, Florida. He later sold and combined a bait/tackle and fuel establishment in Florida for several years.
Don is preceded in death by his parents, Earl and Vada Trent; wife, Anne Cliney; three brothers, Frederick Trent, Harold Trent, and William "Bill" Trent; and sister, Gracie Marie Lanier.
Don is survived by his wife, Carol Coursey Dull. Son, Timothy Trent of Springville, Utah; daughter Connie Snider and husband Scott of Springville; son Mark Trent of St. George, Utah; daughter Michelle Gilham and husband Clint of Security, Colorado; step-son Steven Eggart of Colorado Springs, Colorado. Twenty grandchildren, thirty-two great-grandchildren, and four great-great grandchildren.
