Doris Irene (Bennett) Bullard was born August 20, 1922, to Thelma (Jacoby) and Harry Bennett at Shattuck, Oklahoma. Doris passed away on December 21, 2007 at the Crystal Wood Nursing Center in Woodward, Oklahoma at the age of 85 years 4 months and 1 day.
Doris lived in Arnett attending grade school and graduating from Arnett High School with the Class of 1939.
On July 7, 1941 at Gage, Oklahoma Doris Irene Bennett married Neal Bullard. To this union two children were born; Patsy and Jeffrey. They lived in Spokane, Washington until 1944 when they returned to Arnett where they made their home. They have been married for 66 years.
Doris was a devoted employee and worked as a Deputy County Treasurer of Ellis County for 34 years. She loved her family dearly and enjoyed cooking and caring for them. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Arnett and Sunday School Teacher for the Nursery. She and Neal recently moved to Woodward where they were enjoying their next phase of their lives in the beautiful setting of Providence Place, when Doris became ill.
She was preceded in death by her father Harry Bennett; her mother Thelma (Bennett) Null; her brother Louis Bennett and wife Rose; her sister Norma Lee (Bennett) Ryan and husband Joe.
Doris is survived by her husband Neal of the home, by her daughter Patsy Poindexter and husband Larry of Tulsa, OK; her son Jeff Bullard and wife Ione of New Brighton, Minnisota; one brother Gene Bennett and wife Rose of West Virginia; 5 grandchildren; 6 great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, other family and many, many friends.
