Dorothy Mae (Turner) Heinsohn
Dorothy Mae (Turner) Heinsohn was born to Preston and Beulah (Schandorf) Turner on January 4, 1929, on a farm southeast of Vici, Oklahoma. She passed from this life on April 19, 2007 at the Shattuck Nursing Center at the age of 78 years 3 months and 15 days.
Dorothy grew up in the Vici and Camargo area. She attended 2 years of school in Vici, 1 year at Trail School south of Camargo and the remainder of her schooling was at Camargo where she graduated in 1949. She later attended Draughn's Business College for 1 year.
Dorothy gave her life to the Lord at the age of 16 at the First Baptist Church in Vici; she joined the First Baptist Church in Arnett, Oklahoma in 1956.
Dorothy had two daughters Julia Kaye and Marilyn that her parents adopted. She then married Wyatt Dewayne Mason and to this union two children Robert and Lovella were born. She married Raymond Earl Heinsohn on February 14, 1956 in Shattuck, Oklahoma. They raised Robert and Lovella as their own and had a very good life together until Raymond's passing on April 28, 1988.
Dorothy belonged to the Grand and the Cheerful Home, home demonstration clubs, she enjoyed her club work where she was able to share her many hobbies of sewing, embroidering, crocheting and decorating cakes. She was an excellent cook and helped run the Arnett Coffee Shop and the Northside Café, she also did some cooking for Ed Miller's harvest crew and enjoyed that a great deal.
After Raymond's passing, Dorothy moved to Booker, Texas to help with her grandchildren, Quentin and Melinda Booth, she was later joined there by her granddaughter Rhonda and great-granddaughter Nicole. All of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren were very special to her. When ill health prevailed Dorothy moved to the Shattuck Nursing Center, while there she began doing some art work and painting on velvet pictures that she enjoyed giving to the kids. Dorothy was a wonderful Mother and Mom-Mom as she was known to her grandchildren, she cherished the visits and the time that each of them would share with her.
Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Raymond, her son Robert, one sister Mary Ellen Searcy, one Great-Granddaughter Kristian Ellis and one Step Grandson Brad Booth, 3 brother-in-laws Rollin, Doyle and Junior Heinsohn.
She is survived by her daughters, Julia Koop of Arnett, Marilyn McAlary and husband Rex of Elk City, Oklahoma and Lovella Booth and husband Gene of Lipscomb, Texas, one sister Linda Faye Waldon and husband Holly of Port Orchard, Washington, 11 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren, 3 sister-in-laws Norma Miller and husband Max, and Sue Heinsohn all of Arnett and Margaret Town and husband Don of Bridgeport, Texas, also a host of nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.
