Obituary

Eddie Jay Beam slipped into eternal rest on July 24, 2022 at the Carrus Hospital in Sherman, TX, at the age of 79.  Ed fought a good battle, but his lungs finally lost the race.

Ed was born on March 20, 1943 in Arnett, OK to Charlie Rufus and Fern Oleta Beam.  He grew up in the area graduating from Arnett High School.

Eddie was an avid and lifelong trainer.  At the tender age of 10, he rode his first race and got his first win.  After being a jockey, he moved on to being a thoroughbred trainer for many years, traveling and living around the country.  Ed then spent several years as an outrider at Santa Anita Park in California and there he "wore" the name "the cowboy"

In addition to his parents, Eddie was preceded in death by a sister, Oleta Celin, and a brother, Jimmy Beam.

Ed was a beloved father to three daughters, Jayci Simon and husband Cody of Longview, TX; Janna Brown and husband Jody of Mount Pleasant, TX, and Charli Beam of Miami, FL; grandfather of Trevor, Rylee, and Jake; a cherished brother to Bobby Jack Beam, Linda Kay Beam, and Larry Dean Beam, and uncle to Cyndi, Jack, Stephen, Craig, Trey, Grant, Travis, and Dustin.

Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 PM on Saturday, July 30, 2022 at the United Methodist Church of Arnett, OK.
