He spent his childhood days on the farm and attended the Richmond School through his tenth-grade year. He completed his school years at Vici High School graduating with the class of 1959. Eddie was united in marriage at the Vici General Assembly and Church of the First Born on June 23, 1961 to his high school sweetheart and love of his life, Clarneta McCracken.
They made their home in Vici where Eddie was employed at the Ford garage, then at the fuel station and a short time in the oilfield. The family was completed with three daughters blessing their home, Shawna Leigh in 1962, Shelby Diane in 1964 and Shanda Lynne in 1968.
