Effie Mae Hogg Flick was born at home December 19, 1943, in Leedey, Oklahoma.  She entered into Heaven, December 9, 2025.  She was just shy of 82 wonderful years.

Born to Hugh Walton Hogg and Dorris Victoria (Britton) Hogg, Effie Mae was the eldest of three children.  She attended Liberty Center school.  One of Effie Mae's fondest memories was listening to the baseball World Series on the radio.  She spoke of it often while watching the series on TV.  She represented her classmates giving the valedictorian speech as a graduating 8th grader.  Effie Mae's hard work continued into high school.  She was once again honored as valedictorian of her 1961 graduating class.

Effie Mae met David in the summer of 1961.  At the end of the summer, she headed to Oklahoma State University to study Home Economics education.  They dated throughout her college years and married July 16, 1965.

Effie Mae loved and supported her husband, David, as he ministered and served the Lord as a pastor for many years.  She was a champion of discipleship training and loved teaching third and fourth graders about Jesus. She was a heartfelt supporter of missions and sharing the Gospel of Jesus Christ.

Effie Mae and David were married 60 years.  They remained devoted to each other until the end of Effie Mae's life.  Together, they had three children: DaLeesa, Dorena, and Philip.  Along with her love for the Lord and her family, Effie Mae loved reading, baking bread, watching John Wayne movies, crocheting, and sewing.  She was a night owl and loved the quietness of the house after everyone went to sleep.  Christmas was her favorite time of year.  She loved decorating the house for the holiday.  Her Christmas candies were a family favorite.  Effie Mae's peanut brittle, divinity, caramel popcorn, and the famous Christmas punch were something everyone looked forward to.

She valued relationships.  She loved her family deeply.  Spending time with her children and grandchildren were her priorities. She was dedicated to creating a home that was warm and inviting for her family and all who entered. She also was a wonderful friend and cherished those she met through work and church. Effie Mae taught Home Economics for 26 years. She loved teaching, her students, and the connections she made with them.

Effie Mae is preceded in death by her parents Hugh and Dorris Hogg.  She is survived by her husband of 60 years David Flick of Yukon, Oklahoma, brother James Hogg and his wife Vera of Fontana, Kansas, sister Susan Vines of Weatherford, Oklahoma, daughters DaLeesa Flick of Yukon, Oklahoma, Dorena Hibbard her husband Chuck and their daughters Charlotte, Elizabeth, and Rose of Tuttle, Oklahoma, and son Philip Flick of Yukon, Oklahoma.

But they that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint.

Isaiah 40:31 (KJV)
