Obituary

Eileen Beth (Hutchison) Johnston, gracefully departed this life on April 6, 2024, in Clinton, Oklahoma, leaving behind a legacy of love and cherished memories. She was born on January 6, 1937, in Woodward, Oklahoma, to her loving parents Floyd Taft and Barbara Marguerite (Bailey) Hutchison. Eileen spent her formative years in Fargo, Oklahoma, where she attended school, eventually graduating as part of the Class of 1955. Following her graduation, she pursued higher education in Trinidad, Colorado.

On January 18, 1958, Eileen exchanged vows with the love of her life, Melvin Lee Johnston. Together, they were blessed with two children, Terri Ann and Jerry Lee. Throughout their lives together, they shared a journey that took them through various towns in Oklahoma, including Vici, Weatherford, Oklahoma City, and Woodward, before finally settling in Fargo in 1970, where Eileen made her lasting home.

Eileen played a vital role alongside her husband in his CPA firm for many years. In her youth, she found joy in the art of sewing, creating beautiful pieces with her skilled hands. Her faith was an essential part of her life, and she was an active member of the Fargo Methodist Church.

Eileen was preceded in death by her daughter Terri Ann Johnston, her parents Floyd and Barbara Hutchison, as well as her granddaughter Jami Johnston, sisters Nadine, Nova, Donna Lee, and brother Dale.

She is survived by her devoted husband, Melvin Johnston of Clinton, her son Jerry Johnston and wife Laura of Elk City, along with grandchildren Jackie Hurst and Brett, Jerrica Johnston, Shiann Johnston, Zach Nitzel, Zane Nitzel, and Jessica Nitzel. Additionally, she leaves behind eleven great-grandchildren, as well as numerous nieces and nephews, all of whom will carry forward her memory with love and affection.

The family wishes to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the staff at Homestead of Clinton and Comforting Hands Hospice for their compassionate care during Eileen's final days.

Eileen Beth Johnston will be remembered for her unwavering love for her family, her steadfast faith, and her kind and gentle spirit. She has left an indelible mark on the hearts of all who knew her and will be deeply missed. May her soul find eternal peace and may her memory be a blessing to all who knew her.
