Ellen Marie (Elwood) Poulson

Ellen Marie (Elwood) Poulson, age 89, passed away peacefully on May 9, 2026. She was born on January 10, 1937, in Mooreland to Golie and Mae Elwood.

Ellen attended and completed school in Mooreland before moving to Oklahoma City, where she met James Williams. They were married from 1957 to 1976. Together they welcomed two children, Steve Williams and Beverly Williams. Throughout their marriage, they made their home in Crooksville, Ohio, several cities in northwest Oklahoma, and southern Kansas.

Ellen worked faithfully as a secretary at WR Grace. It was there that she met Harland Poulson, the two of them then married in March of 1985 making their home in Woodward, Ok and later in Foss, OK where they retired.

Ellen was known for her strong work ethic, kindness, and warm spirit. She enjoyed many hobbies throughout her life, especially reading, crocheting, water skiing, and snow skiing. Ellen valued community involvement and was a proud member of BPW International and the BPW Foundation. She was also a devoted member of the United Methodist Church and was baptized in 1938.

Ellen was preceded in death by her parents, Golie and Mae Elwood; her husband, Harland Poulson; her daughter, Beverly Williams; her brother, Donald Elwood; and her sister, Syvilla Fields.

She is survived by her son, Steve Williams and wife Dianne Williams; granddaughter Danielle Shelley and husband Steven Shelley; grandson Mason Williams and wife Bobbie Jo Williams; great-grandchild Zella Raye Williams; as well as many beloved nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends.

Ellen will be remembered for her adventurous spirit, dedication to family, and the love she shared with those around her. Her memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved her.
