Visitation will be held on Monday, January 12, 2015 from 9-7 and Tuesday, January 13, 2015 from 9-12 at Shaw Funeral Home of Shattuck. Graveside services will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Tuesday, January 13, 2015 at the Higgins Cemetery in Higgins, TX under the direction of Bart Watkins and the staff of Shaw Funeral Home.
Elma Lue (Fitz) Case, 95 year old Shattuck, OK resident passed from this life on January 11, 2015 in Shattuck. Elma was born to Arba Virgil and Lee Ella (Brewster) Fitz on June 10, 1919 in Ontario, OR.
Elma Lue was raised in the Bishop community attending Bishop High School graduating with the Class of 1937. Elma Lue married her sweetheart Archie Howard Word on August 20, 1937. The couple was blessed with four children, Ronnie Kay, Arba Hugh, Lee Nell, and Lue Vera. Howard passed on April 19, 1957 after a long fight with cancer. On October 20, 1960 Elma Lue married Farrell Forrest Wilson. Farrell died of a heart attack in February of 1980. Elma Lue married Ivon Clarence Case on May 12, 1981 in Clayton, NM. Clarence died on December 23, 2013. Elma Lue lived in rural Higgins, TX from 1981 to 2010 before living a short time at the Providence Place in Woodward, OK, then with her family in Hooker, OK before returning to the Shattuck Nursing Center.
Elma Lue was proud to be a homemaker; she loved cooking, canning, gardening, her chickens and spending time with family. She was a strong Christian lady, being baptized as a young adult. She was a member of the Arnett Church of Christ and attended the Arnett Church and the Tyrone Church of Christ.
Elma Lue was preceded in death by her parents, her husbands Howard Word, Farrell Wilson, and Clarence Case, son Ronnie Word, brothers Dale Fitz and Dord Fitz, sister, Lonetta McQuigg, step-sons Linden Laubhan, Lyndon Wilson, Denny Wilson, and Cecil Wilson.
She is survived by son, Arba Word and wife Faye of Higgins, TX; daughters, Lee Nell Littau and husband Merlin of Stillwater, OK, Lue Vera Hogg and husband James of Hooker, OK and daughter-in-law, Ann Word of Higgins, TX; three stepchildren, Lola Faye Gaisford of Gage, OK, Carol Cole of Amarillo, TX, and Eugene Laubhan of Amarillo, TX; sister-in-law, Beatrice Pharis of Pampa, TX; ten grandchildren; twelve great-grandchildren; seven step grandchildren; many great step grandchildren; nieces, nephews, other relatives, and a host of friends.
