Elmeda Vurl (Charboneau) Conner was born March 21, 1933 in Dewey County, Ok. and passed peacefully from this life on July 4, 2018 at the age of 85 years, 3 months and 13 days at her home south of Vici, Ok. She was one of 11 children born to Merle James Charboneau and Goldie Inez (Sumpter) Charboneau.
While living in Dewey County her school years were spent attending the Richmond school.
On December 22, 1952 at the Elm Grove Church in Chester, Ok., Elmeda was united in marriage to the love of her life, Donald Gene Conner. The young couple established their first home in Aurora, Co. as Don was pursuing a career in the U.S. Air Force. Elmeda settled in as a military wife and homemaker and four daughters, Teresa, Vicki, Kathy and Shari, blessed their home. Over the years the family lived in Wichita, Ks., Riverside Ca. and at Beale Air Force Base, Marysville, Ca. Upon Don's retirement from the military they made their home in Guymon, Ok. before moving to Vici. Ok.
She was a loving wife, mother, sister and friend. Her grandchildren and great grands were very special, and time spent with her family was very dear to her.
Elmeda's special interests included bowling, a sport she had participated in since the military days and continued as long as her health permitted after moving to Vici. She also looked forward to playing Bunco once a month with the local group. Her membership in the Vici First Baptist Church was a top priority. She was always ready to fulfill any duty asked of her from helping in the kitchen, teaching and helping with vacation Bible school and serving as a Sunday school teacher. She was also a member of the order of the Eastern Star.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Merle & Goldie Charboneau, her beloved husband, Don Conner, 2 brothers, Alvin and Roger Charboneau and 2 sisters Ramona Duer and Elnora (Seal) Evans. Cherishing her memory are her children, Teresa Bowles and husband Ronnie of Glen Rose, Tx., Vicki Kinslow and Dave Stine of Grapevine, Tx., Kathy Conner and Ryan Larsen of Jensen, Utah and Shari McCarley, Vici, Ok. Her siblings, Shirley Hunter & husband Darrell, of Vici, Ok., Junior Charboneau and wife Donna of Seiling, Ok., J.N. Charboneau and wife Wynema of Oklahoma City, Ok., Don Charboneau and wife Annona of Rifle, Co. and Francis Charboneau and wife Cindy of Woodward, Ok. Nine grandchildren, 26 great grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews, other relatives and a host of friends.
