Obituary

Elmer Lane Crandall, age 90, of Higgins, Texas, passed away peacefully on January 30, 2025, in Canadian, Texas. He was born on July 6, 1934, in Milbank, South Dakota, to Worth Badley and Mabel Adella (Reed) Crandall. Elmer's life was a testament to hard work, dedication, and love for his family and community.

As a young boy, Elmer moved with his family to Cheyenne, Oklahoma, where he attended Prairie Dell Elementary School and later spent two years of high school in Canadian, Texas. His journey took him to various places, often following the work of a construction company, before he enlisted in the United States Army on March 6, 1957. Although his military service was brief, ending with an honorable discharge on August 9, 1957, due to medical reasons, Elmer was proud of his service to his country.

On April 19, 1958, Elmer married the love of his life, Armada "Ann" Ator, at her parents' home, a union that would bring two beloved children into the world: daughter Lois Ann and son Jerry Lane. The family later moved to Higgins, Texas, where Elmer found his calling working as a water well driller for Bybee Water Well. He became a proud member of the Texas Water Well Association, with many people seeking out his expertise and dependable service. Elmer's work in this field earned him respect and admiration from those who knew him.

A lover of the outdoors, Elmer enjoyed spending time in nature and finding joy in the sounds of music. He often listened to his son-in-law Mark play bass guitar in various bands and loved hearing his grandson Torrance play multiple instruments.

Elmer was preceded in death by his parents, WB and Mabel (Reed) Crandall; in-laws, Otto and Alma (Ayers) Ator; son Jerry Lane Crandall; and grandson Brandon Levi Range. He is survived by his daughter Lois (Crandall) Range and husband Mark; grandson Torrance Lane Range; granddaughter Trish Range; great-grandsons Clayton Lane Range and Casey Birkett, along with his wife Chyenna and their daughter, Elmer's great-great-granddaughter, Cass; great-granddaughter Brittany Immell and her husband Stetson; along with several nieces, nephews, and a host of loved ones and friends.

Elmer will be remembered for his kind heart, strong work ethic, and devotion to his family. He leaves behind a legacy of love and service, and his memory will live on in the hearts of those who knew him.
